chapter 22: the plan and the animal

You were still asleep while Wally was awake, he got up as he couldn't get his mind off of everything. It'd be perfect! At the beach, around sunset, that's what the plan was for him. He turned around and opened up your computer, doing some browsing when he noticed a tab that was open for an animal shelter. He didn't want to intrude, but he clicked on it. He scrolled through and picked up the fact you were planning or at least wanted to get a pet some time. He browsed through some and found a few cats quite adorable. He smiled, but then directed his attention as he heard you getting up for the morning, quietly he shut down the computer and left it like he never touched it, then, he ended up making eggs and sausage.

you were still fairly tired when you came down. Your boyfriend however was very dressed, per the normal with that adorable smile he always displayed to you. As you made your way to the table, Wally came over and gave you a kiss on the head. "Good morning sleepy head! " he chuckled as he then served you the plate of food he had thrown together and grabbed your favorite drink. You two spent breakfast talking, and you were also scrolling on Instagram, you saw a cat and showed Wally.

"Look! She's sooo cute! " that statement brought the same thought back and he smiled. "Right... I was actually.. " he coughed a little bit, Wally wasn't tooo great at lying, at least, not to you. Never the less he smiled. "I saw a shelter open and if you wanted to adopt a cat, I'd be more than hap-" he barely finished his sentence till you looked at him like he just said the best news in the world. Which however to you, it was. You squealed and looked at him excitedly. "Really?! Today?? " you asked smiling widely. He couldn't help but chuckle and smile to himself. "How adorable.. " he mumbled under his breath but yet did end up nodding. "Why of course y/n, we can get ready now, if you'd like. Let's go. " he said with a gentle demeanor as he started to stretch and took your plate, placing it in the dishwasher. You smiled and said thanks as you excitedly ran upstairs, calling f/n.

"F/N!! " you said loudly over the Phone.
They laughed. "What yn? " they asked with a curious tone. You explained and you guys talked about it. Wally over heated the situation and turned around.

"My my, they're quite excited.. It's so lovely to see them smile, I bet this won't even be the biggest surprise for them.. Not if my plan goes through! " he replied to himself with a small smile, as he stood near the door waiting for you, looking towards you in complete adoration. He sighed softly and nodded. "Ready my dear? " you hummed in response and he headed out.

Wally was the one driving so of course he choose old 70s music, but you didn't mind. Then mid conversation he looked at you. "What kind of cat or dog would you be getting love? " he said with the kindest tone. You smiled at him and told him what you were looking for. He gave a simple nod and continued driving, reaching over though to hold your hand. You laughed a bit. "Maybe you should focus on driving Wally. " you said sarcastically. He held your hand just a little bit tighter, but still gentle. "Well I personally believe you need all the attention I can give.. But perhaps for now I'll focus on the road. " Wally gave a shy laugh and continued. Sooner or later, you guys got there and pulled in. Checking in with the lady. She led you to some cats and you picked out [ select breed/type] who was about 6 years old. You decided to name her annabell.

Meanwhile Wally was busy looking at collars, toys and food for the cat. He came back with a load of stuff and you couldn't help but laugh. "They're finishing up her crate to get her with us but do we need all of that?" He nodded happily and checked out. You took annabell home that day, opening up the door the cat sniffed around. Wally however didn't know how to act. You giggled a bit to yourself about it. "Wally, you okay? Why are you staring at her like that? " you smiled slightly. He shrugged and picked her up.

"I never had a cat before... Or animal let alone. She is quite cute though, matches the person who adopted her.. " he mumbled looking slightly at you with a smile, before chuckling softly. You rolled your eyes playfully and then looked on awe as the cat rolled up and cuddled on Wally. However your boyfriend kinda just "stopped working" and also looked in complete adoration which was adorable. "You okay baby? " you asked trying not to laugh as it'd probably scare the cat. He nodded and slowly started to pet it. "Why is it making that sound? Is it happy? " he asked with a curious tone and you shrugged in response. "Most likely, but cats do it for a variety of reasons, right now probably she's happy.. Looks like it. " you smiled as you got up to kiss Wally on the head, setting up all the things that the cat would need.

When you got finished you walked back into the kitchen, laughing as Wally was dancing slightly, while holding annabell, as he was cooking sandwiches for the both of you. It was adorable. Along with the song of funky town playing in the background. You kept giggling but finally spoke "having fun dear? With the cat? " he turned around a look of surprise was evident on his face. But then he shook his head and smiled. "Indeed I am sunshine. " he walked over and kissed you, before finishing up the two sandwiches. You smiled happily as you took your plate. Of course, your boyfriend kept dancing around in the kitchen, but did set down the cat.

You played with her for a bit as well before Wally came in. "Loveeeee.. Come dance with meeee... " you couldn't help but let out a laugh and nodded. "Fine.. Fine..." You joined him and you two had dances together and then a few on your own, freestyle. You laughed your asses off, and then he spun you, for a moment you thought that you were going to fall, but he spun you back to him pulling you in and gently taking your face in his one hand that wasn't wrapped around your waist. He cupped your cheek and kissed you. "I love you most, y/n..id never ever do what I did again..." He mumbled and smiled. "Out of everyone, all the neighbors I've met - you're the absolute most, and my favorite. " he jeered softly and then gave you another kiss. Then the thought appeared, it was getting into the late afternoon and he blind folded you, to take you to the beach. You could hear and even smell where you were, you couldn't mistake the beach for anything. You laughed halfly as you asked why he took you there. He shrugged and looked away.

"I thought it would perhaps be fun to just hang out... Just us, alone~" he cooed as he kissed you. You both spent the day mostly relaxing on the sand and just spending time, admiring the beautiful beach view together while cracking jokes. Then, you wanted to go into the water. His hair wasn't done today and you smiled. "Well, I know you don't like your hair getting wet, cmere. " he looked confused but sat down. He seemed a bit shocked even more as you put up his hair. You showed him and he chuckled, it was a shorter braid.

"That's..different.. But.. I'm not swimming with that in.. Funny though" he laughed softly as he took it out, then kissing your cheek and tying his own hair up. You two swam and splashed, until the sun was slowly turning into a sunset, everything turning with a lovely golden color. You dried off and he took you to a place that was very close to the beach, still even on it, but just away from most people. He ordered both meals and paid for them, before looking at you.

"It's finally set there's nothing that can go wrong... In just another hour or so.. "
Wally thought to himself as he glanced around while you talked, still making sure he was listening. You guys finished your food and it was now getting dark, but still with a glimmer of light. He went to go walk over back to the main center of the beach, and finally tell you. Now to you if you were honest with yourself, you didn't have an idea what he was about to do. He smiled softly and looked down at you. "I love you... Y/n..and..i wanted to.. " just before he could finish, Eddie and Frank made their ways to you both.

Wally, as much as he loved them as neighbors, they sorta ruined the moment. He sighed and smiled, Eddie laughed. "It's so great to see you two! Double date I guess? Except we never met up hah! " he laughed softly as Frank rolled his eyes. "You're a dork, Eddie. " frank grumbled under his breath but still had a soft voice with it. You smiled happily at the two and talked. Wally was a bit annoyed and sighed, but let you guys finish with a forced smile. Then they walked off. You looked back shyly. "Sorry.. Continue please! " you smiled softly. He put the box he had back and shook his head. "It's okay, y/n- I suppose it slipped my mind what I was talking about. Silly me.." he smiled and kissed your head. You nodded and both headed home for the night.

When you guys got home, he laughed a bit as you did end up having some slight sunburn on your face, but let alone aloe was put on it. You two ended up going to bed after both showers, and of course with your beloved cat annabell. However when you slept, he could not, he had to pick a new time to do so. It wasn't your fault, but never the less he felt a slight disappointed, it didn't stop him though from looking at you with complete love. He kissed you and held you close before his own sleepiness took him over.
