chapter 14: lost sleep and lost job

Over the next few days you noticed Wally had been more,, on edge. He looked tired even though you knew full well he went to bed with you. So when getting ready for bed that night you looked at him. "Wally love... ? " you asked with such a soft tone as you made eye contact with him. To the sound of your voice he looked over. "Yes? " he sounded sleepy. You cupped his face and looked at him. "What has been going on.. You seen constantly tired and or on edge, f/ns noticed, I've noticed, the neighborhood has noticed... Please talk to me... " you mumbled to him as he looked down at the ground as if thinking if he should tell you or not, before letting out a defeating sigh he yawned. "I guess it's just been.. Night mares perhaps. " you sighed softly but nodded understandingly. "About home? " you tilted your head, double checking, Wally seemed to be collecting his mind before nodding.

"I guess so, that and or... Losing you. " he admitted with a shy, yet hurt sounding tone. Your eyes filled with concern and a nervous chuckle escaped your lips. "Losing.. Me? Like.. How..? " you asked as you took his hands in yours. There was a moment of silence before it seemed like he spoke, slowly he stuttered out. "Of.. Home.. Taking you.. From me.. Like he tried to in the past, but instead it was my friends. " he said through a sad chuckle. You looked shocked and didn't know what to say at first. "Taking... Your friends? " you asked. He gave a nod but you could tell he didn't wanna explain any further then he had to. You waited patiently for him as he continued to talk, but you felt your heart sink as you saw tears fall down his cheeks. You didn't know what to do so you hugged him, pulling him close. You've only ever seen him cry a few times. This really hurt for you to see, but none the less, you kissed his head and held his hands, reassuring him you weren't going anywhere, slowly and surely he began to calm down into your touch. He sighed softly and looked at you.

"Oh y/n...my dear darling.. What would I do without you? " he said while cupping your face and ever so softly giving your cheek a kiss. You smiled softly in return but sighed in relief. You then smiled and thought of a way to cheer him up, and maybe get him just a tad bit flustered, the kissing trick! You started on his left cheek, and kissing him multiple times, until you pretty much rendered him speechless, you two were still pretty sleepy so the room was filled with small giggles and quiet "I love yous" throughout all the kisses you were giving him, meanwhile as the kisses grew, so did the subtle pink on his face. Until you both just ended up having a laughing fit and sighed in relief. You hugged into him and he softly did the same, although for a moment it was almost as if he forgot or how to react. He sighed happily as you two were in a happy space now. With you by him that night, he held you close in his arms, as he would always in the past not know what to do or feel rather uncomfortable, for whatever reason he never did with you, almost like what he said earlier of you being like home, if home was a person and not a place. You both rested in each other's embrace until morning hit.

You yawned sleepily and stretched as you slowly got up, however, as you did, you felt a pair of gentle hands hold your waist, in a groggy voice Wally spoke, sleepyly blinking his eyes. "Nooo..Waiiitttt... Y/nnn...5 more minutes dear.. Pleaseeeee? " you couldn't help but laugh as you looked at the sleepy other in bed. You sighed in defeat and joined Wally back in bed. He happily hummed as he rested back, how ever you quickly realized you weren't getting up until he decided to move. He wasn't heavy but enough to hold you down, which to a point you didn't mind. You smiled softly admiring your boyfriend for a bit before kissing him and resting your eyes. Finally after a while he got up and stretched. "Hmmmmm... Good morning y/n" he said with a soft, still half awake tone. "Guess you slept well huh? " you said while trying to hold back any giggling you may had let out. He nodded in a simple response and stretched. "You made my sleeping a lot easier though last night.. Guess you're special hm? " he cooed before kissing you once more before continuing with his statement. "Then again dear... To me, you've always been special since I first laid my eyes on you... " you smiled shyly and nudged him. "I guess I could say the same for you.. " was all you could manage for a moment out of your mouth before stretching yourself and getting ready for the day.

As you both were getting ready you did laugh slightly to Wally. "Look who's the sleepy head now! " you joked around as he nodded with a sly smile. "That's right.. You got me.. Guess I am now.. " but then you added on to before. "You were needing that rest though, I'm happy you slept in, it was needed. " you admitted with a nod as you finished adding the last touches of your outfit for the day. Your boyfriend of course seemed to be in awe of you. "You look fancy today y/n.." He said as his eyes looked at you head to toe in nothing but love. You chuckled softly and kissed him on the cheek. "You're not too bad on the eyes either. " you flirted jokingly before heading downstairs.

Then as you were eating, f/n was already gone, supposedly a lot of more neighbors had been moving in which meant a lot more mail. While speaking about jobs, your phone went off, then in that exact moment it hit you. With everything going on, you didn't realize it but, you forgot to turn in and complete documents and work assigments.

"Shit... " you thought to yourself as you hesitantly picked up. "Hello...? " you said with a hesitant, lower voice from fear. Your boss had a harsh, calm tone over the phone.
"Y/n, you've missed way to many documents and placements, deadlines and more. I don't care that you had an accident or forgot. It's your job. Maybe don't lack on it next time for your next job. We found someone to replace you. You've been cut. " and with that he hung up the phone. You sighed in frustration almost calling yourself stupid for for getting, when Wally had started noticing the stressed state you were in he couldn't help but make his way to you as he asked. "What's wrong love? " he said as he took a table seat next to you before you looked up at him before sighing. "I just.. Lost my job.. I don't know what I'll do. "

You two talked it over and you couldn't help but feel a few tears slip as you were mostly angry at yourself, but before you could, Wally wiped off your tears with his thumbs before smiling softly at you. "My sunshine please don't cry, it's okay.. Hey, I actually think.. Sally would love someone to work with, she has her own little performances going on.. " he admitted with a small smile and a reassuring voice. "How about we call her? " and with that you gratefully nodded. Soon it was settled, you'd have a job with Sally now instead of your boss. Or well, ex boss, which was fine for you personally. Finally the day went on though and you were running out of things to do, f/n was just busy, frank and you weren't close, Julie and poppy were hanging out and Wally was painting.

However you couldn't help but make your way over to him as you smiled. You hugged him which at first he was startled and looked behind him, sighing in relief as he realized it was you. He smiled and looked at you. "Now y/n, you really got me. " he chuckled before going back to painting. You smiled softly as you saw what he was painting. It was the field you two stopped in and made flower crowns. You looked in awe. He always had been a good painter after all. Soon after though he did finish and put up the painting to dry.

You two ended up spending the rest of the late night together as you accidentally fell asleep from boredom earlier in the day. Guess things got boring when there wasn't chaos around you. However the night was spent peacefully and with each other's company and love.
