Sir Leonard took me to a different side of the library and started looking at the titles on the shelf.

"These two bookshelves here are full of encyclopedias," he said, while pulling two books off of the shelves. "This one is a collection of plants, and this one is a collection of animals and other creatures."

He carried the books in one arm and continued walking.

I followed next to him as he headed towards another section of the library.

As he walked, he spoke, saying, "I don't know of many books specifically about the history of food or cooking, but I do know that there are some recipe books in this library. While you read those books, I will try to find those books in the library and the academia. It holds a far more expansive collection of books than the library here."

"As for alchemy," he continued, "there are many books on that topic in this library, but most are just about superficial knowledge. You can start out with those kinds of books, and once you are finished, I will find you more complicated books."

As I followed along with his words, he stopped in front of a mostly empty shelf and picked up three smaller books, stacking them on top of the others in his arms.

"These are the recipe books," Sir Leonard told me.

"Can I take a look at one right now?" I asked. I was itching to see what kind of delightful food people could have made in the past. Thoughts of beautiful baked breads and pastries, covered in a glaze of sugar or cream filled my head.

Sir Leonard leaned down and allowed me to grab one of the books from the top of the stack.

"If you'd like, you can head back to the table to start reading first. I will get the books on alchemy for you," he said to me.

"Huh?" I said, still distracted by my thoughts. I tucked the book under my arm and replied, "Oh sure. I'll go back then."

I turned and quickly walked back to the table and pulled the chair out. I opened up the book to the first page with a recipe on it and stared.

What is this? Some kind of recipe book for war rations?

I closed it and took a look at the title. 100 Easy and Delicious Foods You Can Make Over A Fire!
