Don't Say His Name

Chapter 25

Katherine

I purposely set my alarm at quarter to seven, it gives me enough time to talk to the Guardians and come back before Arthur, Christopher and Nicholas arrive.

I get changed and pick up my phone to call a 'taxi' it doesn't take long for the person on the other line to pick up.

"Hi I would like a taxi" I pace back and forth in my bedroom "Where would you like to go?" My heart races "To Hallaway Drive please" I hear a hum "A taxi is on it's way now" The call ends.

I silently walk out of the house not wanting to wake up Amelia. A second after I step out of the door the 'taxi' arrives.

I enter the black car, looking at the driver who's looking back at me we nod at each other "They'll be surprised to see you" He says "I'm sure they will be" I exhale and try to calm my racing heart by looking at the scenery.

"It's nice to see you again Katherine" A corner of his lip twitches up "It's nice to see you too Keith" We stop at the red light "How urgent is it" He taps the wheel in anticipation.

I look at him through the mirror "Urgent".

The rest of the drive is silent until we approach the run down mansion "You'll be needed for this meeting" I say when we exit the car. He nods.

I open the heavy doors and walk in, the only sound they can be heard is mine and Keith's shoes hitting the floor.

We walk down to the cellar with Keith's torch lighting up our way. He steps in front of me as we are now in front the secret door that leads to the base "You ready" I take a deep breath "Yes".

What once was a torch is now a Guardian sword. Our swords can look like anything we want it to be, mine is a switch knife and Keith's is a torch at the moment. We can change it's look anytime.

He holds his sword upright against the door which glows a dark blue, he moves his sword to the side and we hear a light clang sound, Keith pushes the door open and closes it now that we're in the hallway.

At the end of the hallway is marble stairs leading downwards, on our way down we can just hear people talking, when we're finally at the bottom of the stairs.

I pause.

Coming back to this place, seeing the people I grew up around brings back so many memories. I walk further into the room and everybody stops their practising and looks at me.

"Katherine" I look to the person who said my name and tears form in my eyes, seeing my aunt again after all these years. I run to her and hold her tight, she returns my hug with the same tight hold.

She pulls back and holds my face "Oh I've missed you so much" I try hard to hold back my emotions but my wavering voice betrays me "I-I've missed you too auntie".

I sigh "I'm sorry I've been gone for so long" She gives me a sad smile "I understand why you left, honestly I never thought I'd see you ever again".

I want to cry.

"Well I'm here now auntie but sadly not for long" She grabs me in for another hug "I understand" I step back "I need your help to gather everyone into the meeting room" She nods and walks into the center of the room.

"Everyone!" She has everyone's attention "Go to the meeting room. Katherine Love! The daughter of Fredrick Love has something urgent to say to you all so please".

She looks around the room "Make your way" Their attention snaps to me, the Guardians murmur and then slowly leave the room.

I follow behind them with auntie and Keith walking beside me. Entering the room I stand in front of them, all eyes are on me. My heart breaks seeing the lack of the Guardian population.

"I know you're all wondering why I'm back" I take a deep breath before carrying on.

"There's a war coming and we need your help. Lucifer is planning to kill my daughter and cause the end of the world. We already have a few who are more than willing to fight alongside of us.

I hope you all are willing too aswell I-" I get interrupted by one of the Guardians "Why is Lucifer planning to kill your daughter? What's special about her?".

'Time to break the news'.

"My daughter, Amelia Love, is an amulet" Everyone's jaw drops and then the crowd talks.

"Amulets are a myth!".

"What on earth makes you think that!?".

"Is she crazy?!".

"She's lying!".

My fists clench, I jump on the table in the middle of the room and stomp on the table, everyone quiets down.

"My daughter is not a myth! I am not lying! We are all in danger! If you truly don't believe me then that's on you!" I point to the crowd "A war is coming, we need to come together and fight this evil. It is time to end this NOW!"

Their reactions are blank but my heart leaps with joy as the Guardians kneel one by one. Kneeling is a sign of respect. I hear one of the Guardians 'whisper'.

"She really is like her father...a true leader".

"Stand up!" I command them "Now I hope you all are listening because here's the plan".
