"What are you doing? Get him out of here right now!"

The employees exchanged glances at one another and soon turned their eyes away from him. A little while ago, they looked at the documents, which had the lawyer's signature and was certified by him. And based on what they heard, they knew all too well that if they sided with the Count, chances of being kicked out of the mansion alongside him was high.

"You... you"

Lalisa, who watched quietly, parted her lips open.

"Send the Count and his child out courteously."

When Lalisa's voice fell, this time, a few sturdy servants moved. The Count only came to realize his current situation until he was forcibly kicked out.

"La... Lalisa! You're cruel!"

"Don't worry, father. You'll be given minimum pension."

Her voice was cold, lacking any semblance of warmth.

"It won't be enough, but it's enough to make a living, to have a roof over your shoulder. I am still your daughter... regardless..."

"Lalisa!"

Ignoring the Count's shrieking voice, Lalisa slowly descended down the stairway. And there was Roseanne, looking at the situation with incredulity.

Lalisa stopped in front of her.

Roseanne's voice trembled.

"Uwuu... sister..."

Lalisa let out a cold laugh.

"Sister... sister..."

The smile, which bloomed like white flowers wilted as coldness pierced the air.

"Who gave you permission to call me sister?"

Roseanne's big eyes was filled with tears. She suddenly knelt on the floor, rubbing her hands together and crying.

"Lady Lalisa, please let me stay here. I... I don't want to go back to the orphanage. I'll do anything, anything! Please don't kick me out! Anything you ask, I will do. What do you say...?"

Lalisa looked down at Roseanne without emotion. Perhaps this child was innocent, as all children are. She hasn't done anything. No, she hasn't, at least not right now.

Both she and Lalisa were borne through the selfishness of their parents, but regardless...

Lalisa wasn't at fault that Roseanne was an illegitimate child.

No, it was her father who damaged her.

He was selfish.

And so, Lalisa thought that she should try to accept Roseanne as best as she could like she was her own blood. She was innocent in all this and a victim of selfish decisions, but...

"That dress looks good on you."

At Lalisa's sudden remark, Roseanne looked down at her dress. It was silk, the first luxurious clothing she'd ever worn. It was like heaven, a reminder that she had escaped from her bitter hardships. Before this, she wore a type of rough and patchy clothes. That was her usual go-to.

"It's the only dress my mother made for me and it's very precious to me. Now you're wearing it."

Only then did Roseanne realize that something was wrong.

"Sorry, sorry! I did not know... it was the only dress father gave me..."

"The only thing you'll ever take from me is the dress you're wearing."

Roseanne's red eyes turned to Lalisa. It, too, was one full of grief.

"Other than that, you won't receive anything from me. If you want something, work for it yourself."

Roseanne's lips quivered.

"Why..."

Roseanne understood what she meant.

Lalisa had it all, everything fell into her lap since she was born, so why does she have nothing? They both share the same father, but why was Lalisa of noble spirit and she, a mere commoner and an illegitimate child?

It was unfair.

She could've had it all.

So why did Lalisa and her mother take away what could have been hers?

Why?

"You won't go back to the orphanage. I highly doubt you will. Father will raise you. And just like you hope, you two can live together for the rest of your life."

Roseanne's face distorted.

Soon after, she casted an unnatural and hateful glance towards Lalisa.

With all that hostility, Lalisa smiled bitterly. In the past, she acknowledged Roseanne and did try to share to her what she owned. But in the end, she was the one accused of taking everything from her.

Perhaps it was not so easy to change the past, but despite this, Roseanne's hatred towards her was still the same.

"Send them out."
