Ok so the general gist of hanahaki is "spit up flowers because you're in love with someone and they don't reciprocate until you die" and that's coercive and aro exclusionary so instead of "we fell in love because if I didn't you would die" give me hanahaki being a physical symptom of repression in general and more so an inconvenience than a serious ailment
Hiding intrusive thoughts in an unhealthy way? Boom, spitting out lilies. Hiding the guilt of an affair from a partner? Coughs up a thorny rose at the dinner table. Keeping sadness tucked away because friends have it worse? All well and good until there's a bouquet of bluebells in every bin in the house.
