Book 1: The Alpha Who Saved Me

Chapter 13: Life from here

It seems like it has been forever since I have seen my sister Joan or Alpha Kai. Even though it has been only 2 weeks since I was kidnapped.
The ride to the pack house where Alpha Kai and my sister Joan are waiting to take me back to South Carolina, was short and bumpy.
Sitting in the back seat of the SUV, thinking wow. I couldn't help but laugh at myself and my messed-up life. After all, if you couldn't laugh at yourself, who could you laugh at?
The moon goddess must really want me here. Because so far in less then a year. I have cheated death twice and this second time was a very close call.
I'm exhausted and excited at the same time. As I climb out of the back seat, Joan comes rushing out of the door. She grabs me around my mid-section and squeezes me tight. She is crying and trembling.
Joan.
Joan please.
Joan! I finally yell. She looks up at me. Sniffing and says. I thought I lost you too Leia.
I pat her back softly. I know sis but you have to try and not squeeze so tight. My ribs aren't quite healed yet. My back just closed up. And I lost a lot of blood, so my wolf is having a hard time healing me as fast as she normally would.
Her lips tremble.
Joan please don't cry baby girl. I'm safe now.
I look up to see Alpha Kai in the door way watching us. Joan finally sees my left eye and gasps. Kai has a strange look on his face as he notices my eye as well.
How? She asks.
I don't know what to say so I shake my head. My eye turned this color after the last beating that almost. I got choked up. He almost killed me. And when I woke up in the hospital it was like this. The royal council thinks I'm a hybrid. But there is nothing in our history that's mentions hybrids. Or in the history books here to suggest that hybrids are part of my bloodline. So I assume it has something to do with whatever powers the moon goddess gave me. My wolf went through some trauma. I winced, shrugging my shoulders. My back skin is very tight from all the scarring of the wounds trying to heal. I look down so everyone would stop staring. I feel his eyes on me. But he doesn't come any closer. I want to cry but I can't, not now. Not in front of him or anyone else. They can't see me broken.
I take a deep breath and shutter. Trying to dry up the unshed tears.
Then I feel him reach out through the mate bond. And project his warmth on me. His empathy washing over me. I can feel his sorrow for not keeping me safe.
Kai. I whisper and just like that he is at my side. Sweeping my feet off the ground. He carries me bridal style into the pack house. Gently sitting me down next to a healer. But keeping me within arms length. Guarding me from everyone that tries to comes near.
The healer runs a warm hand over my back and rubs some sweet smelling wax in my scars. The smell of ginkgo, lavender, echinacea, evening primrose, and turmeric fill the air. The healer wraps a thin linen cloth over the salve. And I pull fresh clothes on.
I turn to Kai. I'm tired but I don't want to sleep here. Please get me away from here as soon as possible. I want to go home Alpha. He turns and grabs my chin. Looking me in the eyes. His voice barely above a whisper. Leia it's Kai. Never Alpha my love. Lay on my lap. I will finish up with the Royal Council and take you and Joan home. Our pack plane is not far from here. I promise you. You will be in your bed before the sunsets today honey.
I know my line of questioning is done. But Kai has to answer some questions. Kai hasn't even let Joan near me since the healer has finished. Tyee has stopped her from pacing in front of the door. But my baby sister is impatient. Has been since before birth. In fact she came 2 weeks early. LOL my mom use to call her a busy body.
I reach out and run my fingers through the end of Alpha Kai's pony tail.

Let Joan in before she drives us all crazy or wears a path in front of that door way.
I hear him chuckle.
Yeah Tyee has already mindlinked me. She is giving him heartburn with all her anxiety. LOL.
I will let her in for now. But when we get back home. She will have to get use to you being gone.
Why? I'm not going any where.
Yes, yes you are. You are moving into the Alpha and Luna suite with me.
He kisses my face gentle before he gets up and moves out of the way. I know the bruises are still there. But he still makes me feel beautiful.
My sister comes in walking so fast I can hear the friction from her jeans. Kai chuckles. I mindlink him to behave. His eyes widen as he realizes we are still connected as mates. And that are link was never severed. He gets a dazed over look in his eyes. Nods at my sister as she passes him. And walks swiftly out of the room. Only to be replaced by Tyee, who is in a warrior stances in the door way. Whatever he is just figured out can't be good. And by the sound of things. There will be hell to pay.
