Prologue

Tulak-tulak ang aking dalang bagahe ay nilibot ko ang paningin sa malawak na airport. Matamis akong napangiti nang makita ang isang pamilyar na pigura na kumakaway sa akin at malawak ang ngiting sinalubong ako ng yakap.

"Welcome back to the Philippines, my friend. Gosh! It's been what? Five years?"

I chuckled and kissed her cheek.

"I'm happy to see you again."

"Me too, mah lady."

Habang naglalakad ay sumulyap ako dito at nang maramdaman nito ang titig ko ay napatingin ito sa akin.

She sadly smiled. "I know that look."

I blinked my eyes for a few times and asked.

"Where is she?"

"Are you sure you're ready?" paninigurado nito.

I nod my head and she chuckled.

"Okay, my friend. Get ready because we're going to crash a party."

A sad smile escaped my lips when I saw her sitting inside the restaurant. She looked so happy staring at the love of her life while the other woman in front of her wiped something in her mouth.

They looked so in love. So crazy in love. And here I am sitting inside my car staring at them smiling with each other, holding each other's hands.

I sarcastically chuckled. Para akong tanga na ilang araw na silang sinusundan kung saan sila magtungo at iiyak kapag masasaktan. Sobrang tanga lang.

A single tear left my eye when I remembered how her girlfriend proposed to her. I can still remember how surprised she was when her woman proposed and offered her a diamond ring during her birthday party.

"The day I found you, is the day I also found the reason for my smile."

"My life becomes whole when I met you....."

"I promised to myself that I would cherish you for the rest of my life...."

"Will you be mine forever?"

"Be my wife."

"YES, I WILL MARRY YOU!"

Tila libo-libong mga karayom ang tumutusok sa puso ko habang tinatanaw sila sa isang sulok ng garden. I feel like my heart was crushed into tiny pieces hearing those words. It hurts. It hurts seeing the woman you love, is now with someone else and planning their future together.

Bago ko pa man makitang isuot sa kanya ang singsing at mahalikan ito ay tumalikod na ako at nagsimulang humakbang palayo.

But before I disappeared, I took a quick glance again to the lovely couple. I felt my heart fluttered and my body froze when our eyes met. Shock was written on her face na bigla ding naglaho at ibinalik ang tingin sa fiancee nito.

And then I left.

"Let's go?" Napabalik ako sa kasalukuyan at napasulyap sa aking tabi nang magsalita ito.

Mapait akong ngumiti at ikinabit ang aking seatbelt.

"Ready, my friend?" tumango ako dito at sa huling sandali ay napasulyap akong muli sa kung saan sila naroroon.

I regretted glancing again when I saw them kissing passionately. Marahang nagsilandasan sa aking mga mata ang mga luhang kanina ko pa pinipigilan.

Akala ko.....akala ko may pag-asa pa. But it's all too late.

"I'm too late, my love."
