— AMAYAH —

Rushing to the hospital in my heels, I took a deep breath once I stopped in front of the room she's in. Feeling anxious, worried, and even anger at the moment as I opened the door and my eyes landed on the taller woman.

Julius: I'm sorry to disturb you, Amayah, but Aiden got hit and we're at the hospital right now.

The fear I felt upon receiving such message from her friend. Adding the fact that I know she's had a drink crossed my mind and I thought of every worse possible situation that could have happened to her. I didn't bother asking Julius anything and cut off my bonding with Aaron to go straight to her.

Brown eyes looked at me, they were apologetic and sad. My anger melted away at the sight of her. Marching towards my lover, I pulled her in a hug and cupped her face, looking for more injuries she acquired from the incident.

"It wasn't that bad, just some wounds and a sprain," she showed her bandaged wrist, trying to assure me. "The driver was speeding a little bit but managed to hit the brakes so my injuries aren't that serious. I might have also been stupid enough to stand in the middle of the parking lot where vehicles pass by," Aiden uttered the last part awkwardly, probably ashamed of herself.

I caressed her cheek with my thumb. "What happened, baby?"

Aiden looked down at her hands before turning her gaze to her friends who are all sitting quietly and already sobered up. "Can we have some privacy please?

They all nodded and stood to leave. "Call us when you need anything, we'll be outside," Vera said and gave us a soft smile.

"Thank you, I will."

Once we were alone in the room, Aiden sat up properly and held my hand with her uninjured one. Taking a deep breath and placing a gentle kiss on my palm, intertwining our fingers after.

"My aunt called and told me that mama was rushed to the hospital, she fainted while cleaning and I just froze, I guess. At that moment, all I could think about was her, how she is, what happened and if she's okay," Aiden sighed deeply, closing her eyes as she leaned her head on my shoulder.

I stroked the back of her hand with my thumb. "What did your aunt say? Is she okay?"

She nodded against my shoulder. "Apparently mama overworked herself again, she also forgot to eat her dinner and that caused her to have a fatigue because for some reason, she's up and cleaning at literally 4 am in the morning. We talked awhile ago and I was scolded because of this. Mom and dad also found out. My ears got destroyed."

I couldn't help but sigh in relief, glad that it wasn't anything serious. I know how important Aiden's mother is to her, she's basically her whole life. Despite not having met or even talked to the woman in any way, based on the stories my lover told me, she sounds like an amazing person and a great mother. I've already felt a sense of attachment to Aiden's mother.

"I don't know what I would do if anything happens to her, Amayah. It would kill me," she whispered.

I made her look me in the eyes. "But nothing bad happened, okay? Your mama is in good health and your aunt will make sure of that. Now, focus on yourself because you almost got yourself killed. You think your mother will be happy if that happens?" Aiden shook her head with a pout. "You had me so worried, baby."

"I'm sorry." I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the adorable way she said it, pouting her lips and giving me the cutest look.

"It's okay. Just, try to avoid this from happening again, okay? It would hurt me immensely if anything bad happens to you," when she nodded with a smile, I pulled her face close to mine in a short kiss.
