Chapter 30: Why Do Tears Fall?

He steadily finished off his meal and after he was done, sipped on his wine while he waited for Yuta and Jaehyun to finish. He eyed the way how Yuta nervously fumbled with the ring box in his pocket and tensed up. After everyone was done with the meal, Taeyong noticed how Yuta took a deep breath and a look of bliss appeared on his face.

"Taeyong" Yuta's hushed voice brushed against his eyes. "You look great tonight"

"Thank you" Taeyong blushed. "You look dashing too" 

" I love you so much" Yuta kissed his cheek, eyes filled with glimmer. 

"I love you too" Taeyong whispered back.

" I think about how far we have come from the start till now throughout our whole journey and I just feel so happy" Yuta slid his hands into Taeyong's and gave it a soft squeeze. "I still can't believe that I found you. You're the most beautiful person I have ever met in my life and I knew from the day we met that this would last forever. I couldn't ask for a more loving, kind, and loyal person."

Yuta stood up as Taeyong felt his heart beat rise. 

"If I had to choose a person to be with me till the end, it would be you. If I had to be with someone for as long as I live, it would be you"

"And with this, I want to ask you" Yuta kneeled down and took out the black velvet ring box from his pocket. 

"Would you be my lover for life?"

Taeyong felt tears forming in his eyes as he gazed at Yuta. He realized how much he loved him and how much he cared for him. He wished he could be a better boyfriend for him because Taeyong knew that what he had done couldn't be fixed with a thousand apologies. 

He felt himself choking up as tears streamed down his cheeks. Nodding passionately, he let the words slip through his lips.

"I do Yuta" Taeyong sobbed. "I do"

Yuta slid the ring onto Taeyong's finger and hugged him with pure love as he whispered tender words into his ears. 

Taeyong felt terrible. 

He felt terrible about how nice Yuta was. He felt terrible about how Yuta treated him so well even though he betrayed him behind his back.  Taeyong felt an overwhelming amount of guilt build up inside him as he hugged Yuta tighter and whispered a string of hearable ' I love you's ' and silent ' I'm sorry's '.

Looking through his blurry eyes, Taeyong noticed Jaehyun sitting infront of him. He noticed how the tears brimming in his eyes reflected fervent emotions. Taeyong could see how broken Jaehyun looked but also he managed to smile through it. 

He felt awful. 

He betrayed Jaehyun too. 

Taeyong mouthed ' I'm sorry ' to Jaehyun as he hid his face in Yuta's shoulder and cried harder. 

Taeyong didn't know why he was crying so much. He didn't know what his tears were falling for. 

 Were they for the happiness he felt about Yuta's proposal?

 Were they for the guilt he felt about betraying Yuta?

 Were they for the broken love he still felt towards Jaehyun? 

or were they for the distressed feelings he felt when he saw how broken Jaehyun looked?

Taeyong didn't know but all he could do was cry as he closed his eyes and let all his emotions out.
