Days passed by as things slowly started to change.
Taeyong didn't know if it was for the better or for the worse.
Yuta and him reinforced their relationship through catching up together with things that they missed out on and Taeyong did enjoy the moments. However, things always took a turn whenever Jaehyun was around and through all the cold air and distressed silence, Yuta started to notice the tension in the room. He started to notice how Taeyong tensed up whenever he was around Jaehyun and how he suddenly talked less. He noticed how Jaehyun became more silent and hostile towards Taeyong.
"Dad and Taeyong" Yuta asked as they were at backseat while Jaehyun drove Yuta to work.
"Mhmm?"
"Did you guys have a fight when I was gone?"
"No, why?" Jaehyun brushed it off.
"Both of you just seem a bit off" Yuta hummed. "It's like you guys don't talk that much anymore like you used to"
Taeyong felt his breath hitch as he noticed the way how Jaehyun's grip on the steering wheel tightened.
"We do still talk" Jaehyun laughed. Taeyong knew it was a fake laugh. It sounded empty and forced. "We just wanted to take care of you more these days because you deserve it. We know that you've been working really hard"
"Aww Dad" Yuta cooed as he hugged Jaehyun from the back. "Thanks"
"Not now I'm driving" Jaehyun chuckled.
After a few more minutes of driving, they eventually arrived at Yuta's work place as Jaehyun dropped him off.
"Have a great day" Taeyong smiled as Yuta kissed his cheeks.
"You too" Yuta waved. He waved at Jaehyun too and smiled. "See ya later"
Taeyong waved at Yuta until he disappeared into the building, leaving him and Jaehyun behind. The uncomfortable silence seeped in as tension filled up the room, both waiting to see who would initiate first.
"We have to act normal Taeyong" Jaehyun started as he drove. "I know we left things behind but we still have to act like we're on good terms"
"What part of this seems normal to you" Taeyong bitterly laughed. "How do you expect me to act 'normal' ?"
Jaehyun sighed and swallowed thickly. "I don't want to go through this again Taeyong"
