Jaehyun silently drove as the street lamps casted series of shadows onto his face. The sun had just set and made everything gleam with orange before it also slowly disappeared, turning the whole sky dark.
Jaehyun was on his way to pick up Yuta from the airport and as devastating as last night was, he still called Taeyong to follow him to the airport for the sake of Yuta. After breaking the news to him last night, Taeyong cried all the way home, begging Jaehyun to stay and promising him how he could make things work out. But the only thing Jaehyun could do was comfort him and tell him sweet lies as his heart ached in anguish.
The low hum of the car which usually went unnoticed was the only thing filling the night as flickers of glances were exchanged from the rear view mirror. Everytime Taeyong's eyes met his, Jaehyun felt a piece of his heart wither away. His grip on the steering wheel tightened when the airport came into view and felt despair pooling up in his stomach.
The closer he was the airport, the nearer he was to losing Taeyong.
He parked the car as he waited for Taeyong to get out but Taeyong didn't as they sat in silence. Jaehyun hated this. He hated the feeling of being hopeless. Seeing things crumble down infront of him as he couldn't do anything but watch.
Jaehyun cleared his throat and unbuckled his seat belt. "Taeyong..."
Taeyong didn't reply back as Jaehyun was only met with cold silence.
"Taeyong..." Jaehyun called again but this time, in a more sincere and softer tone.
He could see Taeyong wince from the rear view mirror as he opened the door and got out. Jaehyun got out too and stood awkwardly beside him as he locked his car and turned towards him.
"Taeyong please don't make this harder than it already is" Jaehyun swallowed and nodded "Even if it isn't for me, do it for Yuta. Please?"
Taeyong only gave a downhearted nod as Jaehyun sighed. "Let's go"
Taeyong entered the teeming airport while Jaehyun followed from behind, not wanting to make things more awkward. They sat down on a bench as they waited for Yuta to come out of the arrival gate.
Good evening ladies and gentlemen. On behalf of 127 Airline, it is my pleasure to announce the arrival of flight 9 from Osaka, Japan. Please head to terminal 3 for your arrival. Thank you for your cooperation.
Jaehyun's body tensed up at the announcement as he watched people flooding out of the gate. He stood up to get a better view and scanned over the crowd for Yuta. After a few seconds of looking around, he noticed a familiar face walking towards a snack store. He looked at Taeyong to see him staring at the floor and nudged his feet.
