Chapter 25: In Another Life

After finishing it off, he gave Taeyong a quick smile and looked down to prevent eyecontact but he wished he hadn't because his eyes caught the glint of steel chain followed by a purple butterfly lying limply on his wrist. Jaehyun flinched as vivid memories jabbed his heart. His breath halted and scenes from last night rushed in while the thoughts he tried to drown started to resurface. 

Do it

The thoughts taunted him.

Say it to him. You already ruined yours. Don't ruin Yuta's...

Don't ruin Taeyong's....

Jaehyun closed his eyes in hope of everything to vanish but it instead intensified. The thoughts buzzed loudly in his mind as it attacked him relentlessly.

 He didn't want to do this. He didn't want to lose Taeyong.

But he had to.

"Jaehyun... Jaehyun?"

Taeyong's voice slowly recalled him back to reality as Jaehyun took a deep breath.

"Jaehyun are you fine?"

"Yea I am. I just have a little bit of headache because of the extra work last night"

"Aww why don't you rest for today. We could just watch a movie and chill how about that?"

Jaehyun knew that Taeyong was just being kind but it all felt like a trap he was walking into.

He sighed as he tried his best to clear his head.

" What-what about like a far away drive? I know a place with fresh air and a great view"

Taeyong eagerly nodded as he stood up and gave Jaehyun a quick hug.

"That sounds great too. I'll go get ready now"

Jaehyun flinched at Taeyong's soft hug and gingerly patted his back. When Taeyong pulled away, Jaehyun's reflex leaned in to peck him on the lips but he halted when he realized what he was doing and pulled away.
