Chapter 21: Sugar High

"So where are we going?" Taeyong asked as he buckled the seatbelt. "I know we're going for a picnic but where exactly is it"

"Well it's this place that my friend recommended me to check out. He said that it's a private field where you can have picnics, dips in the stream and just enjoy nature"

"Is it far?"

"It's about a two hour drive"

"I have a feeling that you've been there before" Taeyong smiled as he rolled the window down. He put his sunglasses on and tilted his head. "Haven't you?"

"We'll see" Jaehyun chuckled as he turned the radio on and rolled all the windows down, letting the cool breeze brush against him. "But I'll tell you one thing. You know me now Taeyong" 

All along the driveway, Taeyong felt like he was in a fuzzy dream. The azure blue sky, the lush green trees and Jaehyun's dazzling white smile. Everything felt so surreal. He looked up to see the yellow sun shine above him as palm tree occasionally casted shadows over him. Stretching his arms out, he glanced at Jaehyun and did a double take. 

Jaehyun looked gorgeous. The sunglasses perched on his nose reflected the sun as his lips with a hue of red mouthed along to the song on the radio. His raven black hair flew along with the wind and revealed his smooth forehead. 

"Mhmm?" Jaehyun hummed when he saw Taeyong staring at him. 

Taeyong shook his head and smile. "It's nothing. You just look amazing"

"You look amazing too" Jaehyun smiled back.

 The sun blinded Taeyong for a second as all he could see was the bright yellow light and Jaehyun's dazzling smile. His heart pounded faster as he felt blood rushing to his cheeks. 

The buzzing of the dragonflies and the chirping of the birds filled the field as Taeyong stared at the meadow full of grass and wildflowers. The wind blowing through the grass created rustling sounds and Taeyong stretched his arms, taking a deep breath.

"Do you like it" Jaehyun asked as he stood beside Taeyong, gazing at the wave of grass and wildflowers. 

"I do. It's beautiful" Taeyong beamed. 

Taeyong helped Jaehyun carry the picnic items as they chose a place where it wasn't too sunny nor windless. Jaehyun laid the blanket and sat down while Taeyong placed the basket beside him. 

"Open it" Jaehyun nodded at the basket. "I made it for you"

Taeyong grinned as he opened the basket and gasped when he saw the things inside.

"You made these?" Taeyong asked with a slight doubt. 

"Yep, I made them. All of them" Jaehyun grabbed the basket as he took out each item one by one.

Taeyong stared at the food in awe as Jaehyun smiled at him. The charcuterie board was lined up with a variety of cheese, nuts, beef pâté and crispy crackers. The cupcakes were picture perfect in a box with pastel frosting and berries decorated on top. The sandwiches were stuffed with ham salad and oozing with mayo. 

Jaehyun grabbed a cupcake as he took a bite and smiled at Taeyong with his eyes. Taeyong grabbed one too and let the frosting melt in his mouth as the filling coated his tongue. Words weren't needed as both Taeyong and Jaehyun blithely feasted on the delicious food. Taeyong only stopped munching when there was a cupcake and a few crackers left on the board. He sighed in content at the full meal and patted his stomach as he turned around to notice Jaehyun staring at him. 

"What?" 

"Oh It's nothing" Jaehyun chuckled "I'm just glad that we think the same way"

"What do you mean?" Taeyong asked as he tilted his head in a confused manner.

Jaehyun raised his hand and grinned as he jingled the bracelet on his wrist. The purple butterfly swayed around as the steel glinted under the sun. Taeyong grinned and held up his wrist too to show the same bracelet back. 

"I also brought something to finish this at a sweet touch" Jaehyun reached for a bag as he pulled out a bottle. "Raspberry wine. Not too sweet, not too bitter" 

"Sounds awesome" Taeyong giggled as Jaehyun pulled out two plastic cups and poured the wine into them.

The pink liquid fizzed and bubbled as Jaehyun handed a cup to Taeyong. 

"Cheers" Jaehyun raised the cup and took a sip. 

Taeyong raised his cup too and took a sip as the sweet tangy flavor flowed through his throat. The bubbles tickled his tongue and the raspberry sweetness hit him in all the right spots. 

Taeyong continued sipping on the wine as the cool breeze blew through his dark locks. Swallowing the remaining liquid, he lied down on the blanket and let the warm sun bathe over him. He felt Jaehyun lie down beside him too as his presence sent vibrations throughout Taeyong's whole body. 

The effect of the raspberry wine started flowing through Taeyong's veins as he felt giddy and tipsy. He could hear Jaehyun's soft breath and feel his warm touch next to his but with the effect of the alcohol, more fervent.

Taeyong felt Jaehyun move and before he knew it, he felt Jaehyun's hand sliding into his own. Taeyong's breath hitched as he glanced at Jaehyun only to see him with his eyes closed. He felt ripples of heat travelling through his body as he gave Jaehyun's hand a soft squeeze. 

It all felt like a dream. 

A dream he didn't want to wake up from.
