Travels With Scout

Sophie heard some noises and went outside the house, she saw Alex and Haley hugging Frank and she ran up to them

"Grandpa!" she yelled hugging him

"Sophie!"

"Hi, Frank"

"Hi, Claire, oh it's nice to see you" Frank said hugging Claire

"It's nice to see you too,why don't you come in"

"But, before we do, I have a present for you guys" Frank said and then opened the trailer and a puppy came running out

"A puppy?I always wanted a puppy!" Sophie said

"His name is Scout" Frank said

"Oh. Frank, why don't you come inside, kids let's go inside with the dog" Claire said and they all went inside

Later, Grace was playing with Scout

"I love him" Sophie said

"Uh,sure. Sophie your phone's ringing" Claire said

"Oh,it's Harry. Sorry" Sophie said and then went to her room

Later, Phil arrived and Frank walked up to him

"Welcome home, Mr. Dunphy" Frank said

"Uh, always a pleasure, Mr. Dunphy" Phil said

"Indeed it is, Mr. Dunphy. Place it there" Frank said and then they shaked hands

"Oh, I shall. I shall. I miss this. Get in here" Phil told him and then they hugged

"Oh,this must be Scout, huh?" Phil said

"Yes,he's adorable. Can we keep him?" Sophie asked

"Sophie,I told you, later" Claire said

"Fine"

"I should warn you,he sheds. I made the mistake of letting him sleep with me on the road. Now my sheets look like two bigfoots did it. Pardon the language" Frank said

"How's Mom?"

"Speaking of big feet,eh?She's on a cruise with her girlfriends, some of which are not totally unattractive. Oh, that reminds me,she sent some gifts for the kids. I will be right back"

"Grace seems to really love Scout. You three get better acquainted,I don't think Grace would let him go" Frank said

"Will do!"

"Bye! Will do!" Phil and Claire said and then Frank walked away

"I cannot believe you got a dog without consulting me.This was a major family decision" Claire said

"It was wrong" Phil said

"Yeah"

"And I'm sorry"

"But,Mom,we have talked about getting a dog for years, and you're the only one who wasn't into it" Sophie spoke

"She has a point"

"Because I knew that I would be the one taking care of it"

"What?!That's ridiculous we will all help"

"Yeah,she's right. Look at Sophie,what does she love like she love this dog?"

"Her boyfriend, her books, her phone-"

"Okay, but this is a great chance to teach the kids responsibility"

"That is exactly what you said about Luke's paper route" Claire told him
