The sound of the key unlocking the door filled the silent hallway of my apartment complex. A quiet sigh fell from my lips as I walked into the room and dropped my bag by the door. I could hear the muffled sound of the TV from the living room, as the light of it filled the dark living room. David sat lazily on the couch, clicking the buttons on the remote.

"Heyyy, I'm home."

His gaze shifted from the TV to me as I walked into the living room.

"Oh, yay." he spat, sarcastically.

I rolled my eyes as I approached the couch and sat next to him.

"Anyways, homecoming is in a couple days so I went dress shopping this afternoon."

"Awesome-sauce." he did a double take and quickly realized something, "Wait- you didn't buy some 500 dollar dress, right?"

Shaking my head, I let out an airy chuckle, noticing his features relaxed with relief.

"No, of course not... it was only like 95 dollars, and I used my own money."

He let out a sigh of relief, as I took the dress out of the bag and draped it over my lap to show him. My eyes darted to his face as he raised one of his brows.

"I-Is that supposed to be some fancy curtain or something?"

I couldn't help but laugh, smoothing out the wrinkles, "No! It's a dress, dummy."

David tilted his head, like a dog, in confusion, "Really?"

"Duh, anyways I'm going to bed, goodnight."

"Night." David turned his attention back to the bright TV.

I slipped into my dark room and flipped on the light switch, letting out an exhausted yawn. Ashe was sprawled out on the hard floor, pawing at the hem of the rug. A smile made its way across my lips as I tossed the dress on my bed and bent down to stroke her head, as she purred quietly. Slipping off my clothes, I changed into my pajamas and pulled a sweatshirt over my frame. I picked up the satin dress and carefully hung it up in my closet, admiring it for a moment before turned to my bed. As I plopped on my bed, I practically melted into the blankets, shivering from the cold air conditioning. I had started to wonder when Alexander would ask me to homecoming, and how he'd do it. Would he even do it at all? What if he doesn't like me anymore?

I quickly shoved my head under a pillow, in an attempt to stop the train of thought circling my mind.

Of course he would ask me, I was his girlfriend.

For some reason, my thoughts shifted to Peter.

I'd wonder if he'd be there.

Even if I tried, I couldn't get him out of my mind. The way his brown hair would fall over his eyes, or how his pretty eyes would dote upon mine, as if I was the only person in the room. From just a smile or glance, it was as if fireworks erupted inside my stomach, and he had no idea.

Why? Why doesn't this happen when Alexander looks at me with his blue eyes? Why don't I have butterflies when he flashes me his adorable grins?

I didn't understand at all.

This isn't how it's supposed to go.

I groaned in my pillow, trying to shed the confusing thoughts from my mind and fall asleep.

My eyes fluttered open, taking in the surroundings. My eyes were then fixed on the window.

It was cloudly... again.

I sighed, groggily sitting up.

After I had gotten ready, I said goodbye to Ashe and David and headed into the dark, noisy city, as I made my way to school.

Shutting the locker door, I felt an arm slip around my waist, as I turned to look at the person responsible.

Alexander's eyes were fixed on my face as I smiled brightly.

"Hey, Lily said you went shopping for homecoming yesterday," he said, his arm not leaving my waist as his grip tightened, "well... I was just wondering..."

It was as if my ears refused to hear the rest of what Alex had to say, as my eyes darted to the familiar brown haired boy, walking down the hall. His attention immediately turned to me. It was like I couldn't break my eyes away, as he stared at me. I couldn't read his expression very well but I noticed his jaw was tense and his eyes were almost sad looking.

"So? What do you say?"

I blinked out of my trance and turned to look up at Alexander, who was looking at me with confusion.

"I- Um- Sorry... I zoned out for second... what did you say, again?"

A chuckled fell from his lips, "Well, I was just wondering if you wanted to go to homecoming with me?"

My eyes widened with surprise, even though I wasn't necessarily surprised.

"Yeah, sure."

"Great, but just know I'll probably be a few minutes late, so, yeah sorry."

"Oh, no it's fine, I'll probably ride or walk with Lily then."

"Alright, well I'll see you later." he said, pulling his arm away from my waist.

"See you."

I smiled warmly as he turned and walked the other way, disappearing into the crowd.

Faint rain drops dusted the top of my head as I opened the big glass doors to my apartment complex.

Once I had climbed the stairs and headed down the hall to my apartment, I shoved the key into the lock and opened the door. David was standing in the kitchen, on his phone.

"Hi, David."

"Hi..." he mumbled, barely acknowledging my presence.

I dropped my bag by the door, walking over to the kitchen and leaning on the counter.

"Whatcha doin?"

He paused for a moment, his gaze still locked on his phone, "Well, I was just checking on the case with Charlotte for any updates, since they still haven't been able to find her."

My smile dropped into a faint frown at the sound of Charlotte's name. I didn't reply and just headed to my bedroom instead, my thoughts suddenly becoming cloudy.
