LEE MINA STOOD in the doorway of her father's office, timidly as she carefully watched her father type away on his computer, seemingly not detecting her presence. This was normal for her, having to wonder if her father knew she was in the room. She would describe her father in many ways; hardworking, a perfectionist, a workaholic. Perhaps, 'a man who was too invested in his work to remember he has a daughter', would be the right fit at that moment.

She loved him anyway. Of course, he was her father, but he was also the only family she had. Mina's mother had tragically passed the year before, in a robbery that took her life. It was only her and her father left in their large mansion in the suburban area of Marina City, the area around her residence surrounded by large walls that made it seem like a fortress.

And for Mina, it basically was. She was homeschooled for her entire life, taught by her father's angelic secretary, Yeojeong, with whom she had grown very close.

In fact, this reminded Mina of the reason for her standing in his office, something she didn't do often. She longed to get a taste of the life of a normal teenager, one who isn't bound behind walls and forced to have limited contact with the outside world. She wanted to go meet new friends, make memories, and have the time of her life.

Gathering up some courage, she straightened her posture before clearing her throat to alert the man of her presence. "Father?"

He refrained to spare a glance at her, continuing his typing on his keyboard that nearly drove Mina insane. "Is there something you need? I am quite busy," he monotonously replied.

"Well, I..." Mina bit her lip. "I was just wondering, um, today is the first day of school for Marina Hills High School. Could I possibly... go?" she asked unsurely, regretting that she hadn't previously thought of a way to properly ask him.

She watched as his hands paused on his keys, finally turning his head toward her, his eyes hidden behind the frames of his glasses. He seemed deep in thought, yet his utter stillness was enough to give Mina a bucket of uncertainty.

"I will allow it," he answered after a few seconds, causing a small gasp to fall from her lips. "As long as you can keep up with your studies and your singing lessons."

"Y-Yes, father!" she nodded frantically, a smile on her face. "Thank you!"

"Does Yeojeong know how to register you in the school?" he asked, turning back to his computer, though not typing. "I doubt they would deny you, considering you are my daughter and it would be good for their image."

He wasn't wrong. He was quite famous in the city, being the CEO of S.Y. Industries, the leading company providing sustainable energy for Marina City. Any addition of the Lee family to an institute would guarantee a good image.

"Yes, she does," she replied, mentally thanking herself for letting the secretary know about her little plan beforehand.

He nodded, continuing to type on his keyboard, his silence igniting the end of the conversation. Mina stood awkwardly for a second before bowing a bit to her father, mumbling a thank you, and making her way out of his office. Her eyes landed on Yeojeong, standing outside with her tablet, which she is practically glued to.
