She didn't answer any other of my questions unless I came the next night.

So I have.

Every night I would join Alara on the balcony asking each other questions in till we feel like we shared too much.

"So what does that tattoo mean," I ask pointing to the snake on her right arm

She looks down at where I was. I look back up at her dark hair clipped halfway with a few strands escaping at the sides. She wore a lavender off-the-shoulder dress that flowed out with florals on the borders.

She clears her throat and takes a deep breath.

" I guess they all have venom in them they just use them differently" she shrugs

There's more meaning in her words like she's not only talking about snakes.

"And how about those" I point to the tattoos on her fingers

"No not all of them" she moves her hand away from my view

"Why not?" I furrow my eyebrows

"They would give away too much" she answers

Now I know they all mean something to her, unlike mine which are just some random patterns around my body.

" Okay well at least tell me what sound that one plays," I say point to the sound wave on her forearm

"No Alex, my turn to ask the question"

I snicker shaking my head

"Fine ask away" I sigh

"Tell me about her, how was she like," Alara asks about my mother

The past couple of nights we had short convos about my mother that I enjoyed but quickly stopped before I got too emotionally connected,

" she raised you better than whoever raised your brother" she scowls leaning back

Yup. She might have not gotten the best introduction with my brother

When my brother came home he didn't even give a second of respect to Alara. He didn't even care to say hello. All he told her was to not get in his business.

Yeah, I know jerk.

"My mother raised him too but my father was too much of an influence on him" I tilt my head and earn a nod from her

"She was kind, sweet she was amazing Alara god I wish you could meet her," I start talking not realizing what I'm saying

I turn to see a sincere smile on her face

" I bet she's the one who drew the flowers on the walls" Alara smiles making the soft dimple on her right cheek appear.

I nod with a smile

"Yeah along with my sister"
Both Astrella and my mother painted the little roses on the wall when my father wouldn't let them come out of the room.

Alara's eyebrows raise and she nods

"Her name was Astrella and I hated her yet she loved me" I chuckle

remembering all our tiny fights always ending with her saying 'I love you gregre fratilo'

"She tried to call me big brother in Italian but always said it wrong and it always pissed me off but I secretly came to love it" I chuckle as she laughs

"She sounds fun" Alara crosses her legs over another as they lay in front of her

"She was" I smile to myself

I turn to see Alara staring right back with her big blue eyes

" Her eyes were very similar to yours" I furrowed my eyebrows as her smile disappears

"What's with that Alara I promise your eyes were brown and now they're the brightest blue?" I ask staring right back at her

She stays silent her lips only parted trying to speak.

I wait silently hoping she would finally answer

"Oh, uhm.." She finally tries to find the courage to speak

"Alara.." I place my hand on hers, looking her right back at her glossy eyes, but she refuses to cry.

"... My father told me my eyes reminded him of my mother I didn't want to remind him of what he lost every time he saw me" She shrugs looking out at the view. I could see her hiding her pain, her tears, her emotions." so I started wearing contacts" she finally explains not meeting my eye" she continues, and something in me pains for her. A need for making her feel better erupts yet I don't know what to do.
