Chapter - 8 | The Exam (II)

Start from the beginning

"Teen baj rhe hai... Anokhi ka paper to baara baje tak tha... kaisa hua hoga uska exam... vo vha time so pahunch to gayi hogi na...", several doubts formed in her mind.

"Bus stand bas aane hi vaala hai. Main ghar pahunchte hi phone kar lungi use... bohot tension ho rhi hai mujhe...", she thought to herself.

Suddenly, a road bumper came and her head bumped into the pane.

"Ssssss...", Aastha hissed in pain.

She touched her forehead to see if there was blood coming out and while doing so, some vermillion got applied on her fingers.

She lowered her hand and as soon as she saw the scarlet sacred powder on one of her fingertips, her vision became blurred. Tears formed in her eyes but she swallowed them back. After all, she was a woman of strong personality who had her own baggage of past ordeals. She too has emotions like any normal person but she never lets them dominate her.

Soon, she reached her home and the moment she stepped inside her home, she heard a voice saying, "Aap na meri baat sunte hi nhi..."

"Kya hua maa, aap Baau ji ko daant kyu rahe ho ?", Aastha said putting down her purse on the table.

"Dekh naa Aastha, tere Baau ji meri koi baat hi nhi maante hai aajkal. Chaar bajne waale hai aur inhone abhi tak dopeher ka khaana hi nhi khaaya...", her mother said with a serving spoon in her hand.

"Aastha... tu apni maa ko samjha na... main apni beti ke saath baithkar khaana khaana chahta hu to isme galat kya hai...", her father whined.

Aastha burst into laughter seeing the scene in front of her.

"Maa... Bauji... aap dono bhi na...", Aastha said controlling her laughter.

"Ab tu has kyu rhi hai ?...", her mother said.

"Hasungi hi na... aap dono itne bade hokar bhi bachcho ki tarah kaise lad rhe ho dekho... maa aapko dekhkar aisa lag rha hai jaise chammach haatho mein liye Baau ji par humla karne waale ho aap...", Aastha said smiling.

"Achcha toh tu humara mazaak uda rhi hai...", her mother said pulling her ear.

"Ahh... maa... dard ho rha hai... chod do na please...", Aastha groaned.

Her mother took her hands off and she smiled herself. Seeing that, Baau ji also started laughing. Aastha smiled seeing her happy going parents.

"Baauji... aapne khaana kyu nhi khaaya abhi tak... maa theek hi to keh rhi hai", Aastha said looking at her father.

"Aastha beta... teeno jab ek saath milke baithkar khaate haina tab ek dusre se baate bhi ho jaati hai aur achcha lagta hai... isliye main tera intezaar kar rha tha...", he replied.

"Baau ji... aapko pta haina... aapko lunch ke baad time se davai bhi leni hoti hai. Isliye please Baau ji... aap khaana kha liya karo... jab main institute se aakar lunch karungi tab aap aur maa bhi mere paas hi baith jaana, hum tab baate kar lenge...isliye kal se aap mera wait nhi karoge... mujhe achcha nhi lagta aise... theek hai Baau ji...", Aastha said placing her hand on his shoulder.

"Lekin beta..."

"Baauji please na... aap apni beti ki ek chhoti si baat nhi maanoge..."

"Achcha...achcha theek hai... tum dono maa-beti apni baat manvaake hi chodoge...",  her father gave up.

Aastha freshened up and had lunch with her parents.
