Jesus did not come to replace the teachings of the Old Testament, but to follow and expand on them. The Bible and the word of God is law. They are not to be separated from who we know as God. Understand the Bible, let it reveal your reflection, do not be stubborn against its messages. Every law in the Bible has a purpose, it is our responsibility as servants of the Lord to discern the laws of morality the Bible gives from the historic responsibility of the Israelites.
We are not perfect, and we will never be. All we can do is repent of our sins, and reflect on Jesus' sacrifice and His righteousness, not our own. Through Jesus, God, and the word only, can we become the people Jesus and God meant us to be.
