20: "she's my girlfriend"

(seraphina's pov)

the last two days have gone by faster than i expected and today is the date.

in about an hour to be exact and to say i'm freaking out would be an understatement.

it's not that i need reassurance about his feelings or that i'm having doubts, i've just never been on a date.

yeah i've had crushes but ezra was my first kiss.

when i asked him about the date, all he said was to dress warm so i put on a red sweater with black jeans and doc martens.

i made sure max was all cute and warm too and this time i'm making sure to bring an extra jacket for both of us.

ezra was going to pick us up, i assume for the "full date experience". which is actually not an assumption because he said those exact words when i asked why.

it warmed my heart though with, not only how much effort he's putting into this date but, also that he's including max.

he knows max is the most important person in my life; my #1 priority. god, thinking about it makes me like him even more.

once i get out of my daze, i look at the clock and see ezra should be here soon. i head to max's room where i know he's coloring.

his door is open so i knock on the wall when i walk in and sit next to him on the floor. he lifts his head to look at me and a bright smile comes to his face.

"you gotta start packing your stuff up, bud. ezras gonna be here soon." i smile softly. he quickly nods and puts his attention on making sure his coloring books are straight on his desk.

just when he finishes, a knock sounds at out front door.

max turns to me with wide excited eyes and i laugh. "go get the door, i'm right behind you."

he races out of the room with me laughing behind him and when he pulls open the door, ezra stands in all his glory with my favorite flowers in his hand, flame azaleas.

my eyes nearly tear up on the sight. they're a special flower for a reason.

max runs straight in his legs and hugs him. we both laugh and ezra picks up max. "you read to go, little man?"

he nods excitedly and says, "we've been looking forward to this for forever." he drags out his sentence likes it's been an eternity and i ignore the blush on my cheeks after he exposed us.

we may have been a little excited about today.

he smiles and slightly tickles max's stomach. "well, rascal, i've been looking forward to today for forever too." he drags out his sentence just like max and i silently 'awe' at the sight of them.

ezra comes over to me with max still in his arms and hugs me. he steps back slightly and hands me the flowers. "the full date experience, right?"

"thank you." i smile softly at the man in front of me that has a heart of gold.

"you look beautiful, ser." he smiles at me with a sparkle in his eyes.

my own light up and a soft smile makes it way to my face and a swarm of butterflies fill my stomach. "you don't looks so bad yourself, romeo," i joke.

he smiles back and gives max and i a kiss on the forehead before saying, "we better get going. wouldn't wanna be late now, would we?" he smirks knowing how much i don't like having no clue where we are going.

i huff slightly but the smile on my face never vanishes. i quickly put the flowers in a vase and we head out the door.
