chasing stars - poetry

stars

i remember
a teacher of mine
that told me
"we are all shining stars"
and for years,
i disagreed
but couldn't quite
figure out why
others claimed
that some burned
brighter than others
but i don't think
that's right either
as more time goes on
i start to realize
that none of us
are shining stars
stars are objects
we are just among
the ones who
chase them
