FIRE
You're a hostage.

"I'm here." Odessa spoke to Bucky, Sam and Sharon her the comms. "Imma get in the truck with them."

The dark haired girl looked around at all the GRC staff before jumping into the back of a truck, this way she could keep them as safe as possible.

"O, I don't think that's a good idea." Bucky stated nervously. He hated that he wasn't going to be with her, that he wasn't going to be able to protect her.

"Odessa is a big girl Bucky, she can take care of herself." Sharon reminded the boy.

"I can speak for my self, thanks Sharon," Odessa snapped angrily.

She hated when people spoke on her behalf, it reminded her of all the times she was in court fighting for her siblings. The lawyers would always tell her to stay silent and let them do all the talking. She hated every second of it.

"Don't worry about me, Sarge, I got this." Odessa spoke calmly as she climbed into the back of the truck. "I'm Odessa Kingsley and I'm here to keep you all safe today, that okay with everyone?"

Everyone merely nodded, she could tell that they were nervous, and she understood why. She was nervous too. Taking care of all the GRC staff members was a lot of responsibility.

An officer tapped in the back of the truck and it bang driving off. Odessa have everyone in her truck a small reassuring smile, although she couldn't help but have an uneasy feeling about the situation.

"Dess, can you hear me?" Bucky questioned over the comms, he had just found out that the trucks were now taken and the people inside, including Odessa were hostages.

"Loud and clear." Odessa responded softly.

"You're a hostage." He spoke fast, he needed to get her out of there. "I don't want you to panic, you'll only worry everyone else. But I'm coming to get you."

Odessa knew to trust Bucky, after all the man would do anything and everything to keep her safe. The girl let out a shaky breath, she didn't want to worry anyone else. But she knew that if it came down to it, there was no way she would be able to protect them all from the flag smashers.

"Okay. I can do that." Odessa whispered to herself, trying to keep calm. "Buck, if it comes down to it, promise me you'll save them first."

She was so quiet that Bucky barely even heard her. But he did. She wanted him to sacrifice her in order to help save everyone else. Heck, some of the people in there he didn't even know if they were worthy of being saved.

"BUCKY." She snapped since the man did answer.

"I promise." He nodded hesitantly.

The trucks came to a stop, which alarmed Odessa. She watched as Karli grabbed the officers and pulled them out of the trucks. She couldn't help but smile once she saw Bucky.

"Everyone stay calm." Odessa announced now that Bucky was outside she could assure them that they would be okay. "We're going to be fine."

She ran to the window once she saw the truck beside the one she was in set on fire. She saw Bucky rush towards it and attempt to open the doors. He clenched his fist and hit the doors until they came open.

The GRC members flooded out, most of them thanking Bucky for saving their lives as they did so. She couldn't help but let a small smile form on her face, finally people were going to see Bucky as the hero that he was.

John turned up and began fighting with Kari, Bucky had began to fight with another flash smasher and Odessa felt completely useless just sat watching. She hated that she couldn't help.

Her eyes widened once the truck start to move. Karli had gotten into the truck and began driving, she jumped out as they went over the ledge. The only thing supporting the truck was a few beams.

"Baby?" Bucky's voice came over the intercoms. It was so soft and gentle. Logically he knew since she wasn't in the truck that set on fire, she was in the truck that was dangling above him. "Are you in that truck?"

"I love you, Bucky Barnes." Odessa responded. She knew that this was the time she was going to die. There was no getting out of this situation.

One wrong movement and they would all fall to their deaths. Odessa remained as still as possible, closing her eyes and bracing herself for the truck that was going to fall.

Only instead of it falling, she was slowly behind pulled back. She let go of a breath that she didn't even know she was holding. She never in her life thought that she would be so thankful for seeing John Walker until now.

Her heart dropped again once she saw some flag smashers run towards him, pulling him off the truck and slowly making it fall again. She watched as they fall fell to the ground.

"Bucky." Odessa's voice was shaky as everyone surrounding her screamed. She had tears in her eyes, she hadn't got to live. She hadn't got to have babies or raise a family. She hadn't even bought a home.

"I'm right here, Cherry." Bucky whispered back, he was willing to risk his life and catch the truck if it meant saving Odessa.

The truck came to a stop, it had latched onto two metal beams. Her eyes darted around everyone, who looked equally as scared as she did.

"Nobody fucking move." She snapped, one move and they'd be dead.

"I'm here, Dess, we got this." Sam bragged as he lifted the truck, using the blast from his suit and redwing to help him. "I missed redwing."

"You and me both, Sammy. You and me both." Odessa whispered. "Now get me out of this truck."
