"Oh shit, I'm sorry, did I disturbed you guys????" I exclaim, peeking at Duffer and Gaurav through my palms. Because they were in a position like they were about to kiss. I mean, Gaurav has leaned in to kiss, and Duffer seemed to freeze in his place like a statue.
"It's okay," Gaurav replied shyly, and Duffer blinked eyes rapidly to come out of his current state.
"Gaurav, please, don't mind, I'm taking Duffer from here for few minutes," I spoke, dragging Duffer out without waiting for his answer.
"Thank me later," I said to Duffer, who just looking like he just received a great shock in his life, so I pinched him on his shoulder, making him hiss in pain.
"No, I'm not getting involved in this anymore," Duffer murmured like he is reassuring himself, shaking his head frantically.
"Duffer, pay attention to this first. Mayur Raj came here to grab some people who can fund his project further. As there were so many leading business people attending this party, he is trying to seize the opportunity over convincing them to invest by privately having a conversation with them. Now, I'm sure that there are some project details on that laptop." I described to him whatever I understand, from Lakshmi aunty's words.
"How do you know???" He questioned, eyeing me skeptically, and I lowered my gaze.
"Atharvaa's mom," I replied in a low voice. If I say her words didn't bother me, then that would be a big lie because it stings, but I habituated till now to cope with the feelings, and unknowingly she helped us today.
"What was she doing at the party??" Furrowing his brow, he murmured, scratching his jaw with his thumb.
"Maybe she came with Atharvaa as his companion," I responded nonchalantly, shrugging my shoulders. Yet it's Duffer who knows me very well, and he proved with his question.
"Are you okay???" Taking me in an embrace and cradling me back and forth, he questioned concernedly, causing me to sigh.
"I'm okay, Duffer. Let's talk about it later." I responded, offering him a small smile. Stepping back from his hold, I started to stroll there waveringly, biting my nails, thinking about the idea.
"We have to get hold of that laptop from Gaurav for at least ten minutes, but how???" Racking through my brain, I probe Duffer further.
"Impossible. Gaurav is carrying that laptop like his own baby. We need to distract him completely for that." Duffer retorted, waving his hand dramatically.
"And it's you who can distract him, Duffer." I spoke enthusiastically, grinning wildly for getting the solution, but broke off seeing Duffers 'are you out of mind' look.
"It's a big no from me," Duffer called out, walking away from me, and I followed him like a lost puppy.
"Please, Duffer, one last time. pwease..." I plead with him in a baby voice, holding his chin.
