Water and Ice (Loki Love Story)

Chapter 18

Aqua's P. O. V:

I create an ice bo staff and spin it rapidly in my hands before I use it to deflect The Lightning Mans attacks. He slashes my left upper arm and I deflect another blow.

I spin and thrust my leg forward in a powerful kick, hitting him in the head and knocking The Lightning Man back. He goes to slash at me but I leap up and forward flip before kicking the brunette in the back, causing him to face plant the grass.

I land with my knees bent slightly and brandish the bo staff, before I glance back at The Lightning Man.

He gets to his feet and shoots a bolt of lightning at me, which strikes me in the left side. I cry out as I hit the ground and mum and The Avengers attack him. The Lightning Man would deflect or dodge almost all of the attacks and kick, Nat, Cap and mum away, while ducking to avoid Tony's blast of energy and Clint's arrows.

The Lightning man sees me getting to my feet and runs at me, sword raised. We clash weapons again until I shove my staff into his stomach, knocking the man back. He's about to bring his Lightning covered sword around to strike me, when a leather whip lashes out and wraps right around the man's sword arm, pulling taught and halting his movements.

We look to see it was my mother, having changed her spear into an extremely long leather whip.

"Do it now, Aqua!" Mum calls, even as The Lightning Man struggles against her surprisingly strong grip.

I nod and make the ice bo staff disappear, before I make my eyes turn bright blue. I focus on the brunette's heart and clench my right fist. Soon, blood leaks from his nose and he starts gasping in pain. He staggers but I keep this up as his nose continues to bleed, until he finally collapses with a heavy thud.

After a couple of heartbeats, the man lies still, brown eyes open.

I relax my stance as my eyes turn back to their normal crystal blue colour, and mum pulls back her whip, before dispelling it. Tony lowers himself to the ground as I breathe heavily, and the others gaze at me and the dead assassin.

It was over. The Lightning Man is dead.

Tony opens his mask up as he says to mum, "You should really rejoin S. H. I. E. L. D., you know that? Or, better yet, become an avenger! What do you say?"

"Thanks for the offer, Tony, but I left that life behind a long time ago. I only offered to help you this time because my daughter's life was at stake," Mum says.

"We understand your decision, ma' am," Says Cap, making mum nod her head, a blush on her cheeks when he called her "ma' am."

The front door opens and dad comes running out, his blue eyes filled with crushing relief at the sight of me. I turn toward dad as he sees the dead assassin. He reaches me and pulls me against his chest in a hug, careful of my wounds.

The other Avengers watch as mum comes over and joins in on the hugging, as well.

About a week has passed since the assassination attempt, and we were all recovered, the dead assassin having been collected by S. H. I. E. L. D. agents.

The Avengers, mum, dad and I were sitting around the kitchen of the house, Bloom and Leo with us as they were told about the incident by me and were extremely worried.

Bloom sits at the dining table with mum, dad, Nat and the twins, while the males mostly lean on the walls or benches. It was nighttime, and mum was making her signature lasagna, which was cooling on the bench.

"So he wasn't hired by anyone in particular, just that there are lots of people out there who fear Aqua's Haemokinesis enough to want her dead," Fury was saying, bracing his hands on the edge of the table.

"I still don't understand," Says Bloom. "We all know Aqua wouldn't use her power for evil. She doesn't even like using her Haemokinesis that much, anyway."

"Why don't you try telling that to the people who want her dead?" Clint says, making the redhead whip a dagger glare to him.

"What if it happens again?" Leo asks worriedly, gazing at me as I hood Sarah in my arms. She's so cute!

"What if there are more out there who will come after my daughter?" Dad asks fearfully, sitting next to me. He's always been overprotective of me, ever since I was born, but even more since I started working for Fury.

"Then, we'll be ready for them," Cap says, a promise in his voice. "Your daughter has some of the strongest superheroes watching her back. We won't let any harm come to her like this again."

I smile at him at that, grateful for Cap.

"Don't worry, Derek. We're all in this together," Tony says, smirking.

"High School Musical, much?" I mutter, blinking my crystal blue eyes as I remember one of my favourite songs.

"What?" Cap and Nat ask.

"High School Musical," I reiterate, holding out my hand pointedly. "It's, like, one of their opening numbers." Fury looks exasperated while they appear puzzled. "You know? "We're all in this together

We're all stars" (I could swear Clint and Tony were tapping their feet or bopping their heads to the song, like Nat and Cap were)

Together together come on lets do this right!"" I sing the first chorus but they still look dumbfounded. I face palm. I can understand Cap not knowing the reference, but Nat?

"I can't believe you don't know it! Okay, before you go home, we have to watch it! And, you need to study up on it, Cap. Fury, you're more than welcome to join."

The blonde haired, blue eyed man nods once as he holds up his hand in acceptance, though he's smiling.

"Remind me again, why did we hire her?" Fury asks in irritation.

"Because I'm the best and most worthy out of all of you! Trust me, you'd be completely helpless without me! Admit it, Captain Eyepatch!"

"Not even if you were the last member of the team!" Fury snaps, making mum smile a little sheepishly. Yeah. She knows we don't get along.

"Oh, come on! We all know you love me!"

"I may be friends with your mother, but you annoy me to no end, Aquamarine!"

Cap, leaning near us, asks curiously, "How long have you known Britney for?"

"Oh, we go way back!" Mum says, seeing Fury glaring at me. "I'll tell you about it during dinner. Okay, who wants some lasagna?!" I think mum said that in order to break the tension rising between me and the dark skinned man.

"Oh! I do!!" Tony immediately chimes as he goes over to get his slice, and everyone else adds their own agreement. Ever since these guys have stayed, they've come to love mum's cooking as much as dad, Leo, Bloom and I do. Mum's lasagna is one of her best meals, along with bacon stir fry and spaghetti bolognese.

"I would love to stay and join you, Britney," Fury says in a softer tone as he pulls away from the table.

Bloom and I exchange glances as we wait for dad and Leo to bring us our slices, as we're minding the kids. Nat went to get out the two high chairs and sets them up beside the second redhead.

Once we all get our lasagna slices, we find places to sit with Bloom and dad on either side of me, Leo next to Bloom; mum, with Fury beside her, then Tony, Nat, Cap and Clint.

And as we eat dinner, mum tells us of her time as an agent of S. H. I. E. L. D., her friendship with Fury and the details of how she met dad.
