Frederick's  POV

"Dad, I have two people coming over in 2 hours," Annabeth says from the couch. I raised my row.

"Sure, should we prepare food?" I asked. Annabeth nodded, not looking up from her book. Helen came into the living room.

"What would your friends enjoy?" she asked. Annabeth looked up, thinking for a minute.

"Anything but fish" she states. Helen nodded, smiling at her. I couldn't help, but grin. Helen and Anabeth had gotten on better terms recently. I couldn't help notice the tiredness in Annabeth's eyes and the screams I heard at night. Helen had seemed to understand more than I did so the two of them began a decent relationship over it.

"Alright, Fredrick makes sure the boys clean up and look presentable" she instructs, gesturing me to go upstairs. I nodded, heading up to the boy's bedroom.

"Bobby, Matthew we have guests coming over" I stated. My sons looked up at me, eyes shining.

"I need you two to look presentable and to clean up" I ordered. They nodded.

I left the room, stopping at Annabeth's bedroom. I smiled. I couldn't believe that she chose to live here a few months ago. She told us that she'd be staying for the summer, seeing as camp was inconvenient for school. My 18-year-old daughter was going to a college in New Rome. She didn't tell me any of the details but just said that it was free and made for Demigods.

Annabeth had changed. I could tell, but she did a good job hiding it. She was much more alert and disliked it when there were loud noises. She often excused herself midmeal, sitting on the front steps outside. She also had a gray strand of hair, she said that it was something that she and her friend got together, but I wasn't certain that it was true. (A/N: Yea, I kept it)

The most noticeable was at night. SHe'd stay downstairs till 2 o'clock, always staring at the stars. She'd go upstairs, but I heard noises meaning she wasn't sleeping. She'd stay up for 3-4 hours and then, she'd fall asleep. I'd often wake up to screams and loud crashes coming from her room. I did go in there on the first night, but she wouldn't wake up. I tried to share her awake, but she bolted upright as soon as my hand touched her shoulder. She backed away, her face was terrified. She told me not to come into the room and just make her room soundproof. The next day, I put stuff on the wall that made the room soundproof from the outside. For the next few weeks, I barely heard anything but noticed that Annabeth looked more exhausted.

Last night, she went to bed almost immediately and woke up happy. She no longer looked tired, but very excited. I guess that it was due to her friends coming over.

I snapped out of my reverie and went downstairs. I watched Annabeth as she read her book. She stayed on each page for like 10 minutes. I wondered why she bothered reading when she had dyslexia.

"Annabeth, is that what you're wearing?" I joked, gesturing to her outfit. She frowned and looked down. her eyes widened.

She had obviously forgotten that she was in her pajamas.

"Styx!" she exclaimed, rushing to her bedroom. I laughed, heading into the kitchen. Helen was making what looked like pasta and she had something in the oven.

"What are you making?" I asked. She shrugged.

"I wasn't sure what to make, so I just made pasta and garlic bread" she admits. I squeezed her hand.

"I wonder what her friends will be like" I mumbled. She shrugged.

"She told me that they were both boys" she stated. I raised my brow.
