AN:// THE ULTIMATE FILLER CHAPTER haha. Anyways enjoy. Review if it suits your fancy.
As if shadow travel wasn't disorienting enough on its own, Nico's usual grace when he reentered was completely lost this go around. He slammed forcefully into pavement, propelled by Kellen pulling him forward and tripping on whatever grasped his foot. Immediately the creature began crawling its way up Nico's back. He scrambled in a futile attempt to escape the claws now digging into his shoulders.
A quick glance told him it was an empousa who joined their little escapade into the darkness. Fangs extended in her mouth and Nico flailed with renewed vigor. He wasn't going down to this vampire-like creature. He'd made a promise to return and he intended to keep it. Slamming an elbow back he caught the creatures chin and she reeled back just enough for Nico to gain some leverage.
"Get off!" he growled as he flipped the empousa to the ground. He frantically skittered his fingers across the pavement in search for his sword. He'd released it when he tumbled into this...wherever they were. She hissed and lunged once more. Nico knew she was stronger than he was and had to act quickly. He made sure to face her so he could at least attempt to keep her at an arms-length. Snapping jaws, fingers digging into his neck, hisses and snarls, this girl was freaky.
Just as Nico's arms began to tremble from exertion the tip of a sword appeared in her chest. The empousa stared in shock at the metal protruding from her front side. She looked at Nico in horror before disintegrating. Collapsing amongst the dust Nico breathed heavily and tried to clear his head. His leg burned fiercely and his backside ached from the merciless claws of their enemy. "Took you long enough Mr. Gaurdian," he huffed out. Looking up he saw a sheepish Kellen. The ginger stuffed his screwdriver into his back pocket and grabbed at his neck. "I couldn't find my screw driver. Shoot man that was too close."
Plopping down beside the aching Greek, Kellen glanced around. They were in an alley and dusk was setting quickly. "Any idea where we are Nico?" he asked and Nico pulled his chin from his chest to look around them. "No clue, but it is way too cold to be California. I think that monster threw us off course." Nico's last statement was punctuated by a large yawn and Kellen looked over in alarm. "No, no, no. You've gotta stay awake buddy. We need to find shelter. Come on, come on!"
Nico's head began to lilt sideways, eyes batting sleepily. "Shit," he slurred. "Just hide me in the dumpster or-," Kellen gaped as the raven haired boy drifted off to dreamland. "Shit is right Nico," growled the agitated ginger as he looked helplessly around the quickly darkening alley.

Leo bit his lip and stayed just behind Jason and Piper, using them as a sort of living shield. He was terrified out of his mind that Nico was going to flip on him for showing up. The three stood in a courtyard waiting for a little girl to go summon Reyna. It's always important to check in with the head praetor when you arrive. And last time Leo showed up here he'd pretty much blasted the place up with a massive warship. Now that wasn't his fault. He'd been possessed, but even Reyna didn't fully trust the mechanic yet. Not that he blamed them.
So here he stood, fiddling and more anxious than ever. Leo's mind ran over a million scenarios for how this could go down. In a perfect world Nico would be thrilled and find the entire gesture romantic. In a decent world Nico would grace him and move on. In a realistic world Nico would curse him out and throw a fit and they'd argue for several hours on matters of trust and respect. Leo hated those chats. He was torn from his thoughts when a clear voice rang out. "I see you brought company!" He glanced up to see Reyna in all her noble glory striding across the grass with her massive dogs, Argentum and Aurum, at her side. They immediately began growling when he peeked his head out from behind Jason so he situated the broad blonde between himself and the dogs.
Jason laughed and pulled Leo to his side with a muscled arm wrapped around the mechanics neck. "What? I can't bring one of my closest friends over for a visit?" Reyna stood, eyebrow arched in a flawless portrayal of how unimpressed she was with his comment. "As long as he's... unarmed." Leo felt a flare of temper raise within him. "I am not an enemy of Rome! Gods of Olympus Reyna! You know me... sort of. I did save everybody's butts at the end of the war."
Reyna's eyes softened at the mention of Leo's sacrificial heroics. If there's one thing she respected it was a soldier willing to put himself aside for the good of the legion. Giving a sharp nod she directed them towards her quarters. The small group settled on cushions scattered throughout the living space. "Leo," Reyna began, "I want you to know I trust you and I'm fine with your presence here. I just had to give you a bit of a scorcher for the whole leadership façade."
Leo smiled at the brunette. He felt a release in his chest knowing he'd been accepted. "Façade?! I think you're about as legit as leaders come," he needled. Piper and Jason laughed at his misunderstanding but let it drop. "So how are you? I heard vaguely from Hazel, but not much," she asked as she reached out a delicate finger to stroke the top of Aurum's head. Her eyes pierced deeply and Leo knew he would need to be honest. Between Reyna's perception and her dog's animosity toward dishonesty, it was a must.
"I've been better. That bastard did a number on me, but I'm lucky enough to have Nico keeping tabs on me," Leo replied as he fiddled more intently with a trinket from his tool belt. Reyna smirked knowingly. She was a huge fan of their relationship. She wasn't sure if they were official, but she could always see it sorting out. They balanced somehow.
"Speak of the little devil, how has he been?" asked Reyna. "I haven't seen him in ages!" Instead of animated stories about the sulking son of Hades, she was met with looks of shock and concern. "Did I say something wrong?"
Leo had paled significantly, hands trembling as he looked helplessly at his friends. "He's not... he's not here?"
