you promised.
everyday.
for five months.
you promised.
all the things you said,
constantly running through my head.
every promise you broke the day you decided you didn't love me enough to try anymore.
every memory we made together on repeat in my head.
every kiss,
every touch,
every word.
and i wonder,
are you remembering the drives too?
the day we went long boarding in the park?
every sleepover?
every moment we spent together in that green camry?
every time we walked to the school so i could smoke?
are they all on repeat in your head too?
do you get to work in the morning and think about every morning i was there for you to call?
or did you just go back to calling your mum?
do you get home at night and crawl into bed and remember how warm your bed was with me in it?
do you think about that morning when you wanted to be so close to me that you practically shoved your body under mine?
do you wake up at night and remember all the times i was there for you to hold close to you?
do you ever lie awake and think about every time i made you so happy that you forgot you existed?
do you ever think about calling?
about texting?
or am i just another streak and story to tap through for you now?
is being strangers with me again as suffocating for you as it is for me to be strangers with you again?
does it break your heart as much as it breaks mine to know that
our forever
is over.
