Chapter 19.7

Timely intervention

A strong scent filled the nostrils of the young vampire who took in a deep breath, her heart racing when the familiar, mouthwatering scent flooded her vampric senses. Blood. That was what it was….the feeling of fresh, warm blood splattering over her torso allowed Angela Lockhart to figure out that the stakes had hit a target. But something was wrong. She didn’t feel any pain. Had the seal numbed her senses to the point that she would be spared the sufferings she had to go through before death took her. Or was it that the she had already died and gone to the land of the free, where Devan would be waiting for her.

‘Damn. That was pretty close’

Angela eyes shot open when she heard the familiar voice. The voice belonging to the young male who was standing in front of her with his left arm stretched across her torso, the stakes that were aimed at her piercing through his bicep and lower arm.

‘Y-You…W-Why did y-you save me?’, Angela stuttered out her question to the leader of Taskforce 666, Crown.

It seemed like time itself stood still as Crown pondered over the question that he had been asked, before he slowly turned his head to glance back at the vampire.

‘Because…I wanted to save you’

The answer from the young commander took Angela by complete surprise. It made no sense to her why he, the leader of Taskforce 666, would save her. At first she thought he was bluffing. But when she glanced into those caramel brown eyes of his, she could tell that he meant every word he had spoken.

‘B-But why? Why would you risk yourself to save me?’, Angela asked him, her curious nature being adamant in finding out the true intention behind Crown’s actions.

‘Mhmm yes Crown…Please tell us why you saved the young Angela Lockhart’

Crown’s gaze moves to the Martin Sevan who was sneering softly as he watched him and Angela speak, his anger from being stopped now being over shadowed by his curiosity in the manner.

‘YOU STAY OUT OF THIS!’, Angela screamed at Sevan, her urge to kill him resurfacing as she glared at him with eyes filled with disgust.

‘Oh please. We’re just curious that’s all....After all this could be the case of the knight saving his princess~ Wouldn’t that be wonderful Angela-chan?~’, the Lilim, Arisa, giggled as she joined in on this bizarre conversation.

‘SHUT UP SLUT!’, Angela bellowed at Arisa, rage and hate rising inside of her due to the teasing and mocking of the members of The Order.

‘Arisa calm down…We haven’t even heard Crown’s side of the story yet. So tell us Crown…why d-‘

The question from Sevan got cut off when he realized that Crown wasn’t even paying an attention to him. In fact he wasn’t paying attention to anyone. All he was doing was staring at the 3 stakes that had been lodged into his arm, watching the blood flow from the wound with intent.

‘Hmm…Do you think he has gone into shock my master?’, Jung Hong watched the boy as he asked his question to Sevan, smirking when he sees Crown slowly reach up to grasp the stake that had pierced through the flesh just above his wrist.

Everyone was watching Crown intently, waiting for his next move. Even Angela, who up to a minute ago was blinded by rage, had now calmed down as she looked at the jaggered tips of the stakes which had cleanly pierced through Crown’s arm. Everyone was curious as to what Crown would do next. Would his anger finally show, would he break down from the shock and pain or would he faint due to blood loss? Everyone wanted to know. Everyone, except Rick Takeshi, who knew exactly what Crown was going to say.

‘…Man…That hurt…’, Crown mumbles out before frowning slightly as he grasps on to the stake and slowly pulls it out, leaving everyone watching him with dumbfounded faces.

‘Then can you at least pretend like it did! Don't just stand there like you got hit by a brick! DO SOMETHING!’, Rick yelled in annoyance, irritated by his friend’s actions.

‘Well it doesn’t hurt that bad man...Just a…needle piercing kind of feel’, Crown clarified with Rick, his words being heard very clearly by the others whose gaping mouths dropped even lower.
