Chapter 19.10

One more step

‘So what are you trying to say? That you want to correct our mistakes?!’

It was clear by the tone of his voice that Martin Sevan was neither enraged nor insulted by the explanation given by the young man, but instead was curious and rather amused by it.

The sound of light laughter filled the entire area as everyone’s gaze fell back on the young leader of Taskforce 666, who was the sources of this calm laughter.

‘Hahaha…..That’s a good way to put it Sir. Yeah, that’s what I’m going to do’, Crown replied to Sevan without any hesitation, watching the man closely to see his response.

Everyone in that court yard stared at Crown with eyes that where filled with disbelief and mouths that hung wide open. Everyone except his partner, Rick Takeshi, and, to the surprise of Rick, Martin Sevan.

Excitement, anticipation and thrill. These were the emotions that Martin Sevan felt as his gaze ran over Crown, who was now smirking as he looked back at him. Sevan could see it in the young man’s eyes, the young ignorance and hope he had once before. But along with it, something more violent. Something that he had seen before long ago, in a man that even he had feared.

‘But could he really…..’, Sevan pondered as his eyes scanned over Crown’s features as the male began to pull out the last stake that had pierced his shoulder.

Yes there were many similarities between him and that man. Both were light elementalists. Both were walking down a similar path in their war torn world. And both had the same look in their eyes. A look that showed their determination to not quit even when everyone was against them. Yes, it had to be. It all made sense.

‘You. I know you, don’t I?’, Sevan asked Crown when his curiosity finally got the better of him, questioning him first before asking him directly.

Crown’s right brow shot up as he watched Sevan carefully before a small smile formed on his face.

‘Yeah….You do old man’

‘And how do I know you?’, Sevan continued with his questions, not even caring about the shocked gasps and looks of bewilderment that he and Crown were getting from everyone else.

For what seemed like the longest period of time, Crown just stood there with an amused look on his face as he looked into the eyes of Martin Sevan, as if taunting him to ask the question again. And when it seemed that Sevan was going to do just that, Crown gave him his reply.

‘My Father…You know my father. He’s also the reason for my stubbornness in this matter. Even though some guys don’t agree with me’, He says before glancing over at Rick, who had a wicked smile on his face knowing the comment was aimed at him.

‘You’ll have to be a bit more specific boy. I’ve killed a lot of revolutionist and peace loving leaders over these twenty years and I don’t take the time to remember all of their names’, Sevan mocked Crown with an answer that he had given to many children of those he had slain.

‘Shut up old dog. His dad ain’t dead yet’, Rick suddenly intervened, causing all the attention to move to him.

Crown gave a small nod of agreement to Rick’s words before looking at Sevan again

‘Yeah that’s right!’

‘Infact…He’s in the school right now’, Rick added immediately after Crown had spoken, smirking slightly at the looks of disbelief on the faces of those from The Order and The Legion.

But they weren’t the only ones who were surprised by what he had said
