We stand in line waiting for the boy in front of us to finally order his food and leave, but it seems like he has a long time to think. I throw a few amused glances at Irina, who is standing close behind me. Her bodyguards are watching my every move and I have to admit it makes me feel a little weird, but I just ignore it and focus only on her.

I don't know why, but one of the bodyguards seems to have something against me, even though I didn't do anything. Or maybe it's just his way of doing his job, but I wish Irina and I were alone right now. Do they have to follow her everywhere?

"What do you want to eat?" I ask when the boy in front of us finally leaves, scanning over the menu of the cafeteria with my own eyes. They don't offer much of a variety and maybe it would have been better if we had gone somewhere else to eat, but it's too late for that now and I know for sure she wouldn't have accepted my offer, to begin with.

"Hmm." she ponders, swiping over her lower lip with her index finger. "I think I'll have a salad."

"Just a salad?" I ask in disbelief. I could never get satiated with it. "Are you doing this because it's my treat?"

"I said I wasn't that hungry," she says. "Besides, I accepted lunch with you, but I didn't say you could pay for me."

I raise my eyebrows at that. Grinning, I look down at her as she looks through the salad dressings and wonder what kind of person she is.

"I insist."

"Fine, but just this once."

I shake my head, trying to suppress a smile. She is interesting, she has a personality that I can't interpret and read, and I could say I see through people very easily. Women have always been easy for me to understand, but with her, it looks like I have to try a little harder.

We order our food and find an empty table in one of the quieter corners of the cafeteria, where we place our tablets on it. Her bodyguards follow us on close heels and I sigh at that. I can shut them out, pretend they're not here, but they're breathing down my neck.

But luckily Irina gives them a quick nod with her gaze and they sit down at a nearby table after nodding. I really wonder why she has to walk around the university in broad daylight with guardians when there is no danger here. Maybe her family is protective and just trying to do what's best for her.

"I've seen you a few times the last few weeks." I start casually. "You haven't been paying attention to me, though."

"Was there a reason for me to do that?" she asks, looking up at me from her salad. Her green eyes pierce through mine and I grin at her stubbornness.

"Well, I mean, it's called a conversation," I shrug.

"I'm not good at conversations." She admits, now stabbing her fork into a cucumber as I watch her. She chews on it and a bit of salad dressing lands on her bottom lip, which she wipes off with a napkin.

"I can see that." I laugh and she just raises her eyebrows at that. "I mean, I always see you walking around the university by yourself or in the library."

She sits up straight and her expression changes as if she's judging me for why I'm suddenly asking so many questions. I can see that she is a person who doesn't share much of herself with other people and that makes her even more interesting to me.

"I'm here for my studies. What did you expect?" she asks.

Poking my fork into my chicken, I look up at her. "I don't know. You might want to chill with your friends on campus, too," I suggest.
