After a couple of minutes working into the project, Jihoon finally couldn't take it anymore.
"D-dwarf? Did I do something?" Jihoon asked. Soonyoung turned his head to face him but did nothing.
"H-hey... are you angry at me?" Jihoon asked once again.
"Do you really mean it?" Soonyoung responded with a question. "Do really mean what you said back there in Quelpart Island?"
"What are you talking about?" Jihoon was utterly confused.
"Do you really mean what said back there?" Soonyoung repeated.
"Wha—" Jihoon was about to respond when Soonyoung cut him off.
"Do you really hate me that much that you don't know what to do with your life if I was your soulmate?" Soonyoung said.
At last, it struck Jihoon. He remembered his statement back in Quelpart Island when they knew Seokmin and Chan were soulmates. He can't believe it greatly hurt Soonyoung. He didn't really mean it that time. He just wanted to tease Soonyoung. Jihoon even expected Soonyoung to retaliate but was baffled when he did not.
"No. It's just that—" Soonyoung cut off Jihoon once again.
"Because honestly, I was really hurt by your statement," Soonyoung confessed. "I really like you since the first day of class."
"If you like me, then why are you insulting me every single day?"
"It's because I was afraid. Afraid that I'll totally fall for you and you are not my soulmate," Soonyoung desperately explained. "I was trying to keep my feelings in check by insulting you but instead, it made me fall for you even harder."
"I-I did n-not know. I thought you were just simply teasing me," Jihoon defended.
"Tell me, Jihoon... do you hate me?" Soonyoung questioned. Jihoon was surprised. It was the first time Soonyoung used his real name.
"Yes, I hate you. I hate you with every single cell in my body..." Jihoon trailed off as tears flow down his cheeks. He was waiting for something to happen.
And then, as if it was planned by Jihoon, both of their wrists glowed. Of course, their marks also merged. Soonyoung's mind was about to go blank when Jihoon continued his statement.

"...I hate you because you make me feel butterflies in my stomach. I hate you because my heart beats faster every time you face me and look at me straight in the eye. I hate you because you don't know how your casual flirting affects me. I hate you because you made me fall for you." Jihoon continued his statement as if the glowing of their marks was part of his plan.
"So, you mean—" it was Soonyoung who got interrupted this time.
"Yes, Soonyoung. I also like you," Jihoon confessed. And even though it was his first time calling Soonyoung by his real name, it felt natural.
Soonyoung wasted no more time. He stood up and pulled Jihoon into a really tight hug.
"I'm sorry for saying those things in Quelpart Island. I just want to tease you that time," Jihoon muttered.
"It's okay, Ji. I understand now," Soonyoung pulled Jihoon and wiped his tears away. "Sorry if you got hurt with any of my insults though."
"It's okay, too. Although I may have hurt you more."
"Like I said, it doesn't matter anymore. What really matters now is that you are my soulmate and I am not letting you go."
"Same here, Soonie. I am not letting you go either."
"Soonie?"
"Can I call you that?" Jihoon cutely asked for permission while playing with the fabric of Soonyoung's clothes that he could reach.
"Sure, Ji. If that is what you want." Soonyoung chuckled at his soulmate's reaction.
Soonyoung pulled Jihoon into an even tighter hug this time.
"By the way, Ji, did you really know that our marks will glow earlier on?" Soonyoung asked.
"I did not know but I was really hoping it would." Jihoon stated. "I don't know what I would have done if it didn't."
"All's well that ends well, I suppose."
"Yup. And I couldn't ask for a better ending than this."
