I sit around doing paperwork and quickly eating my lunch as I wait for my next patient

Being a doctor in a busy hospital means you have a lunch time but you would rather eat it at any time you have spare by shovelling it down your throat as peoples lives matter more to you

I have 2 more hours on shift until I can go home and see my beautiful fiancé, Billie

I get the fact that I don't see her that often because I'm often doing late shifts

But our hospital is often over staffed and people are sent home

This hospital was a trail hospital in the first place, a trial hospital with the workers get paid 30% more than any other doctor would

Studies have shown that we work better and have a lower death rate

Deaths are heart breaking, I struggle to do it

Usually when we have a death we are allowed 10 minutes break to just process things and have a drink to calm ourselves

The one thing you keep you eye out for is the red phone

When the red phone rings you drop what your doing unless you have an emergency patient because this usually means we have a death caution patient

I finished my lunch and quickly put it in my bag as I continued patients paperwork

Suddenly I hear a familiar ringing and my head shoot up and as you know it the red phone is ringing

Many people run over to it as one picks up and starts to listen and write things down

Once the phone is down he repeats to us

"Young woman, multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdomen. Loosing a lot of blood and is in a crucial state" he says and we all listen

I rush to the doors and start by putting on gloves and sanitizing my hands

The doors sway open as the bed is rushed it with the patient lying on top

My doctor in me rushes over and staddles the patients thighs and puts pressure on the larger wounds to stop the blood

We come to a stop as people rush around my getting different things as I keep my eye-line down on the wounds

People start to put different needles in the body and then starts to bandage the wounds, to be sewn up once we get the patient stable

"She's gone into cardiac arrest!" Somebody yells and finally look up and my heart drops

There is the blue haired beauty whose barely recognisable with the blood covering her face

My heart breaks at the state she's in and I didn't notice who it was until now

I'm broke back to reality as I realise I need to save her life

Immediately one hand goes on top of the other and I start chest compressions

Her shirt was cut previously to give people more access to her wounds

My chest compressions never weaken or come to a stop as tears fill my eyes

"Come on baby" I mutter

"Don't leave me" I say

"Wake up" I repeat as I continued my compressions

"Wait that's her fiancé, she shouldn't be doing it" someone says

"No leave her, she's doing well any stop could be fatal" the head doctor whose was also my training doctor when I fist joined, John
