Ivan: He's here.

I stiffened in my chair.

He couldn't mean...?

Ludwig stood up from his chair, scowling.

Ludwig: That Hunter.

My breath caught in my throat, feeling a moment of relief.

However, the moment soon ended.

Ivan: Wait.

Ivan held out his hand to Ludwig who stood, preparing to go outside.

Ivan: Let _ and I handle this.

His eyebrows raised in surprise but he complied.

Ivan and I locked eyes, nodding.

With that we headed outside, Hunter unfolding his arms as we approached.

Hunter: I was worried you'd never show.

He looked Ivan over, grimacing.

Ivan held his gaze, smile sinister.

Hunter: Your father grows impatient, _.

Hunter: How long do you plan on keeping him waiting?

He held out his hand, inviting me to grasp it.

Hunter: Come, your life awaits.

I took a step forward.

I took a few more steps closer, hands clenched into fists by my sides.

Reader: I don't know if I'm their chosen one, if I have any powers at all...

Reader: But even so, I want to see this through to the end!

Hunter:Tsk.

Hunter: I expected you to be smarter than this, _.

Hunter: Your father's graciousness will only last so long.

Reader: Tell him what I said. I don't need him to understand or accept my decision. But it's still my decision to make.

The man was silent for a moment before slightly bowing their head.

Hunter: Very well.

With a turn of his waist, his cloak flew around him. A moment later and he was gone.

Reader: Ahh...

I let out a shaky sigh.

Ivan: _!

He reached out to me, helping me stand.

Ivan: Are you all right?

My legs were weak but I never felt better, never felt stronger.

Reader: Yeah, thanks.

I smiled up at him, thankful to have him by my side.
