Alfred: Stop it or I'm gonna barf.

_: W-what?

Alfred: You two are acting so chummy it's sick.

He said, waving a butterknife between Ivan and I.

Were we acting 'chummy'?

Francis: Ah, how cute! They didn't even notice!

Ah, that's embarrassing. But were we though? We definitely got along better than when we had first met, but I wouldn't exactly call us 'friends' either.

Ivan: You leave _ alone.

Alfred: Easy, we weren't picking on her or anything.

Feliciano: I think it's sweet.

Yao appeared, placing a plate in front of me. Unlike the rest he remained silent on the matter, either not caring or not bothering to share.

Still, their comments wouldn't leave my mind, making me blush slightly.

Ivan and I?

Did they see us as a couple?

Surely not.

We were just...just...Okay, I don't know WHAT we are. Maybe friends, but it's complicated since I'm essentially a prisoner here.

Ivan: Nevermind them, _. Would you like to work in the garden again?

I instantly lit up, nodding enthusiastically. He smiled softly, making me aware of how close we might just be.

The garden was a piece of work. Even so, we had managed to plant quite a few vegetables. Vegetables Yao can eventually cook or serve with our meals. He seemed happy to have the new plants, almost as much as Ivan and I.

_: Thank you.

Ivan: For what?

For everything, is what I wanted to say but I couldn't bring my lips to say the words.

_: For the garden. It's wonderful being outside, even if only for a little bit, working in the soil.

Ivan: I agree. Soon enough the plants will mature and we'll be able to harvest the produce.

_: You seem to know an awful lot about gardening.

He turned pink slightly, turning his face away from me. Gazing at the plants he spoke,

Ivan: I suppose you might be right. I always liked them; big, small, flowers, ferns, anything and everything.

I couldn't help but smile at the serene expression on his face. He truly seemed to love gardening, even more than I did.

_: I'm glad we did this.

His smile widened, admiring a budding leaf on a tomato plant.

Ivan: So am I.
