CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX

They walked into the pack house to see Troy sitting in the living room with about twenty of the pack members. He looked serious, and bad news was to be expected.

“What’s wrong Troy?” Nova asked in his alpha voice.

“Today, I felt a couple unknown rogues around the barrier. I sent out four pack members to check it out. They never returned and their mates came to us feeling their deaths. I went to confirm it only to find their body’s ripped apart.”

“These rogues are that strong?” Nova shook his head. “This isn’t good. How many were there?”

“There were three of them; a female and two males.”

“And they beat four of your trained pack members? Okay, tomorrow we set out more wolves on guard; anyone volunteer?”

Most of the wolves in the room raised their hands. Santana was amazed. Weren’t they afraid? She felt bad for the wolves that lost their mates. She couldn’t imagine losing Nova. Shaking her head at that thought, she looked at the volunteers with a proud feeling. They showed loyalty to the rest of the pack by doing so. It was amazing.

“Is it okay if I help out as well?” she raised her hand gaining everyone’s attention.

Nova growled “Hell no!”

Troy nodded in agreement. “No, you still need more training. And we just got you back; it would kill us inside if anything happened to you now.”

She sighed. “I just want to help. Everyone’s risking their lives. I don’t want to hide behind them and not fight. This is a chance t prove myself.”

“No means no Santana, now go to the room. We’ll talk later,” Nova shook his head at her.

She glared at him angrily. “Nova, just because you’re my mate, doesn’t mean that you can tell me what to do. You’re forgetting than I have alpha blood coursing through my veins.”

Nova’s face turned red with fury. “I am your alpha as well Santana. And when I say no, you listen. Go!” he pointed to the stairs.

She didn’t listen. Huffing, she ran out the door. Not really knowing where to go, she ran towards her favourite place; the huge boulder. Footsteps heard behind, she turned to see Hadyn following her. She stopped. As they stood before each other, Hadyn grinned.

“I love you girl, you have guts! Nobody talks to Nova like that.”

“I feel bad now, but he went over the line in telling me what to do. I felt like one of those house wives bending over the oven for their controlling husbands. You know the one from the black and white movies.”
