CHAPTER EIGHT

Chloe and Troy ended a very passionate kiss.

“My sweet Luna…You are the sexiest woman alive,” he moved his strong arms around her waist. “I love you.”

She smiled at him. He was so handsome and such a good man. She kissed him one more time before her son Xavier came running in. Her Lupita. He was so handsome with his bow wrapped around his arm. He was so small for a fourteen year old, her little wolf.

“Hello love. Are you hungry?”

“Yeah. I want brownies!”

“Such a big appetite for such a short little man,” his father snorted.

“Oh don’t start on me dad. You know I can kick your wolf’s ass without even trying,” he challenged.

“Don’t swear. And no, you wouldn’t be able to because your mom would protect me,” he smiled at her raised eyebrow.

“I could kick moms’ as-before he said “ass” Chloe had him in a tough headlock. Not painfully of course, just play.

“What was that about kicking my ass?” she laughed as he grunted and struggled to get out from her hold.

Troy laughed loudly. His son was so funny, but a tough little one. He thought about his little baby girl. A painful expression crossed his face. He felt so much sadness and rage over the loss. He still searched every day since she went missing sixteen years ago. Chloe couldn’t even bear to see a picture of her. It killed her inside after Santana went missing all those years ago. Chloe changed drastically. She became distant with the people she cared about. When she became pregnant it brought her back to when she had Santana. He couldn’t count how many times he found her almost killing herself. She blamed her kidnapping on herself for trusting the people who took her. Sometimes when she woke in the morning, she’d turn to him and say “I dreamt about her again.” She called for Santana many times in her sleep, she still did.

Chloe saw her mates pained expression. He was thinking about their daughter again…Her heart hurt.

“Xavier, go and see Nesta about making brownies. Get her to teach you how. Every woman loves a man who can cook,” she winked at him.

“Ah come on mom. I don’t want a mate!”

“You will once you meet the right female.”

“Never!” he ran from the room.

She shook her head and turned to Troy. “Stop doing that in my presence. You know how that makes me feel,” she put her hand to her chest.

“I’m sorry Luna,” he hugged her gently.

“It’s okay Alpha. I get it. Now leave me alone for awhile.”

“Chloe..”

“Just go. Please. I want to think.”

He nodded and left. My poor Luna, I’m so sorry. But when will you realize that I feel the same way? It was sad that she didn’t reach out to him when she felt like that.

*You shouldn’t push your mate away like that Chloe. His heart hurts too yeah know. She was his daughter also.*

*I know. But every time I look at him, I see her in his arms as a baby. Every time I look in the damn mirror I see her!* she cried.

*I’m sorry Chloe. Maybe one day she will return.*

*I miss her. At night she would snuggle into my arms and make noises with her lips. Her warmth was so…* she couldn’t continue. The sobs escaped her throat almost choking her. She fell on the floor, shaking. My poor baby! My baby girl! She whimpered. The tears never stopped flowing. They trickled down her face, salty as it touched her lips. Images of her little girl flashed through her mind like bullets, because they hit her heart with a stabbing pain. For a mother, to bond with her child, then have it stolen from her?! She thought this was worse than death. I’m in hell.

Troy walked in at that moment. He listened outside to his mate’s sobbing. Tears poured down his face. He felt the sadness as they were connected as life long mates. The pain was so unbearable; he didn’t know how she could stand it anymore. His legs shook, he wanted to hug her, comfort her. He lost his baby too, why didn’t she understand that as well?

“Get out Troy,” she said almost in a whisper.

“I can’t stand you like this! You’re crying all by yourself, every time!”

“Then leave!” she screamed.

“Don’t you understand that I lost my baby girl too?” he yelled loudly in his Alpha male voice.

“Don’t you dare yell at me Alpha!” she yelled in her female Alpha voice.

“Why don’t you get it?” he whispered while staring at her face.

“Get what?” she sobbed.

“The pain you feel? Well I feel the same way! My heart feels crushed and I can barely stand here while you cry!”

“I know you feel the same way. But if you can’t stand it, then get out!”

“Luna,” he whispered, eyes narrowed.

“Please leave Troy,” she covered her face with her hands.

“Alright love.”

Chloe sat there on the floor crying. She didn’t know how long for, but she noticed it getting darker outside. She sat up, her legs shaky. Walking over to her room, she opened the closet that contained all of her memories of Santana. Her little outfits in a box and baby pictures in a large envelope and some in frames. Dust covering the glass, she wiped it off. The smile caught her off guard since the dust was covering it. Her baby girl was sitting with the Beta’s son Damon who also had a large smile on his face. It ripped her heart apart to see her baby’s smile. She thought about Damon. He was such a nice boy, Nova’s best friend. He would have been second in line to be her mate if Santana hadn’t been…kidnapped.

Suddenly her phone rang. She ran to get it, grunting as she prepared herself. She didn’t want her voice to sound shaky to the person calling.

She saw the name on the screen; funny how she was just looking at a photo of him and…She shook her head.

“Damon?” she answered trying to sound cheerful.

“Hi Chole. I have some…news for you.”

Her eyes narrowed. Is something wrong? His voice was different.

“What’s wrong? Your voice sounds strange. Are you okay?”

“Yes, I’m fine.”

“Do you want to talk to Troy or your father?*

“No. I think you should sit down before I tell you this.”

She didn’t.

“What?”

“I think I’ve found Santana.”

Her heart stopped.

She fainted and hit the floor hard. Her phone broke in the process.

The line went dead.
