🌈Chapter 12: Fire Accident

~Beomgyu's P.O.V~ (April 17, 2023)

~Flashback~

I went to work and now doing my job inside the building. It's afternoon so everybody was busy finishing their own works. I too, was busy doing mine when a friend asked for my help on something.

"Hey Beomgyu, can you help me with the printer?" -Workmate

"Sure! What happened?"

"It stopped working and we still have fifty pages to scan and twenty-five documents to print." -Workmate

"Woah, that's a lot. I'll try to fix it."

"Thanks Beomgyu." -Workmate

Me and my workmate started fixing the printer. It's actually located beside the huge window where you can see the view of the city. My office is located a little bit below the building so it wasn't that high. Well, for me it wasn't. I stretched myself a bit to relax my bones. I looked out the window and saw a rainbow in the sky. What a beautiful sight indeed.

'Did it rain earlier?'

"Hey Beomgyu, do you know Yeonjun hyung?" -Workmate

"Yeah."

"Have you heard about him getting fired?" -Workmate

"He got fired?! Why??"

"I still don't know..." -Workmate

After hearing Yeonjun hyung whom was part of our department got fired, I looked back at the beauty of the rainbow, I then smelled smoke inside the building. Is there something burning? It's impossible that it's from cooking. Who cooks inside the office??

"Guys! The building is on fire!! Everybody evacuate!!!" -Workmate

My workmates were shouting about our building being on fire. Everyone panicked and immediately ran towards the stairs since the elevators won't work. I was about to head to the stairs as well when I saw my phone vibrating on my desk.

"Let's go Beomgyu! Leave everything behind!! Our lives are more important!!!" -Workmate

I hesitated at first but decided to just leave it. I mean, our lives are more important like he said. Also, everyone was going to the opposite direction to where my phone was so pushing myself into the crowd might not help me with escaping fast. I arrived at the ground floor and was heading towards the glass doors of the building when I saw a lady stumbled because of the crowd. I helped her get up and she thanked me. Before I could even walk, the ceiling collapsed and fell on my leg.

"AHH!!!"

"Beomgyu!" -Workmate

"Help! Help pls!!" *cough*

It was very smoky and I had a hard time breathing. Even if it was dark, I saw my workmate trying to help me. I inhaled too much smoke as my vision went black.

...

"Are you the doctor?" -Eomma

"Yes Mrs. Choi. I'm doctor Bang Si-hyuk." -Doctor Bang

"W-what happened to him doc?" -Appa

"Your son inhaled too much smoke and his leg was horribly injured. I suggest him to stay here at the hospital for a month then he can go back home and be healed for the next several months." -Doctor Bang

"Thank you doc." -Appa

"I'll leave you now." -Doctor Bang

"Eomma... Appa..."

"Oh son..." *sniffle* -Eomma

"What happened?"

"You inhaled too much smoke and got a leg injury." -Appa

"A-am I gonna be fine?"

"Yes you will." *sniffle* -Eomma

After hearing what happened to me, I was just staring at the ceiling, remembering how I got here in the first place. My parents left me for a minute and when they came back, they told me something.

"Son, you'll be staying here at the hospital for a month. After that, we'll send you to Jeju for better recovery." -Appa

"Appa, does Ryujin know what happened to me?"

"W-we already told Chaeryeong about this. Don't worry, we'll update you about Ryujin when you go to Jeju." -Appa

"Thank you eomma, appa."

"Anything for you my son." -Eomma
