Chapter 18 – The Professors Cabin

The campus was windy as they made their way across. Unfortunately, not much communication was made. Nathan and Jasmine were walking together hand in hand. Jonah and Giselle walked slowly behind them. There were moments that she'd look across the campus at the nature around her.

How could such a beautiful campus seem so gloomy?

It was almost as if she thought too soon. As if out of thin air, Isaac appeared. Their eyes met briefly. It was almost as if the campus didn't seem as dark anymore. In his nonchalant stare was a look of annoyance. Giselle, the queen of rebellious nature, was sneaking off yet again.

The four, now in front of a fifth person stood silent. Jonah and Isaac's eyes met briefly. Neither of them said a word.

"The weather is nice." Nathan said. "I mean, at least the sun is out."

Isaac glanced at him for a moment.

"Yeah, I mean it looks like a great day on campus." Jasmine added. "Right?"

"No." Isaac said. "And I'd love to continue this charade but there are far more important things at hand."

Jonah swallowed hard. "Like?"

Isaac glanced at Giselle then, "Where are you running off to?"

"The Professors cabin." Giselle muttered. "We have a plan."

Isaac nodded. "When did you plan on telling me this? After?"

"I guess."

"Can I talk to you in private." Isaac said. "Now."

Jonah laughed.

Isaac glared at him. "I don't find this amusing."

Giselle and Isaac walked three feet away from the group. There was a brief hesitation. Giselle glanced at Jonah for a moment. His arms were folded and he looked a bit annoyed. She understood why.

"After everything we have been through." He muttered. "You're still doing things behind my back."

"This isn't about you Isaac." She replied.

"And him?" He muttered. "You're going to just walk freely with him after everything that has happened?"

Giselle rolled her eyes. "Lets not forget about the time we saved you, Isaac."

Isaac paused for a moment.

"You can come with us." She added.

Isaac shook his head. "See me afterwards."

He walked away. Giselle watched him a bit taken aback. For a moment she thought about chasing after him, but she didn't. She could see him slowly disappearing into the trees as the minutes passed. Jasmine met her side then, as if reading her mind.

As much as it felt wrong to do anything without Isaac's approval, she also felt as if she didn't need it. Deep down Giselle knew how she felt about Isaac, they shared a special bond and loved each other deeply. But she also didn't want to spend the rest of her years asking or telling Isaac what she needed or wanted to do. She knew he was nonchalant about most things and her invititation was clear. She wondered why he would even say no.
