The Way We Touch | WE ARE TWIN

"You look tired," Dave had told me, taking the seat in front of me. I'd been on break, resting my head on my arm while I lazily scrolled through my phone.

I wanted to comeback with something witty and sarcastic, but I decided against it. Yes, I was tired seeing as Zayn and I hadn't made it home until late and I had to be at work for a morning shift at nine.

"A bit," muttered, silently groaning at the fact that I still had to work for a few more hours. Maybe if I accidentally dropped a whole bookshelf on top of me I could go home or something. Now that I thought about it, I kind of wanted to try it out.

"Are you hungover?" He asked me and I snorted because no, I wasn't hungover. I didn't even drink last night.

"No," I shook my head before sitting up and leaning back into my chair. At least I was on break and could relax for a little while. "Just went to sleep late is all. I was out pretty much all day yesterday."

"Lucky," Dave pouted. "I had to close. It was a drag." I let out a small chuckle before he continued. "What did you do?" He asked me.

Sitting here with Dave having an actual conversation was kind of abnormal for us really, but it wasn't as weird as it would've been a few months ago. Which I was glad because I was kind of over the whole awkward avoidance stage. Besides, we were coworkers and this worked out a lot better than what used to happen.

Other than that Dave and I were good as far as I knew. We weren't exactly friends I wouldn't say, but we were comfortable around each other and anything was better than old times, honestly.

"Um," I let out a puff of air. "Well, it was Zayn's birthday so I kinda spent my day with him. I helped his friends surprise him in a way, it was fun." I smiled as I remembered the night before and how effortlessly easy it was to pull everything off. Even if there were last minute changes, things still worked out for the better. "Have you got any plans lately?"

I looked up at Dave from underneath my eyelashes to see what his face looked like seeing as I just brought up my boyfriend and all. Surprisingly, nothing was out of the ordinary. He wore the same facial expression as he had before and for that I was glad.

"That's really nice," he sent a smile my way. He sounded fairly genuine for the most part so that was pretty great as well. "I actually have a date this weekend."

Dave's smile grew wider and I found my mine growing as well once I heard the news. I was going to tell him congrats but that sounded awfully rude so I thought it'd be best if I didn't do just that. I also didn't want to embarrass him for that either. Luckily Dave spoke again before I did so I didn't have to come up with something to say.

"Yeah, someone I met a while back. She's really nice."

"That's great," I smiled and I meant it. Surprisingly, I was really happy for Dave. I mean, if anyone deserved this it was him. And now that I thought back on it, I guess I was kind of a dick for turning him down like I did, but I guess things had a funny way of turning out. "What's her name?"

"Oh," he blushed. "Um, Alexa, that's her name."

And at first I hadn't thought anything about it. It hadn't even came to me until after a few moments later. Then I frowned because I knew an Alexa, my best friend, but then again she wasn't the only Alexa in this town so maybe it wasn't even like that. I decided to say something just to clear it up, though.

"Weird," I chuckled to myself. "My best friend's name is Alexa, small world."

"Really? That's funny."
