Sorry this took so long. AND its short. BUT Its something. More later but I have work to do.

Dominic’s POV

I growled with frustration. Clearly using my bond with Laurel wasn’t going to work. She had weakened it. Like she has sawed most of the way through it but didn’t sever it completely. I knew she lived, and there was something odd about that part of it, other than that, I didn’t know more about her. Why isn’t this easier? She is my mate, I must have her. And my son. He would be strong, my future children with her would be all be strong. Hopefully we wouldn’t have any girls. They were weak and couldn’t protect themselves.

My phone rang on the counter, and I stopped pacing the kitchen to answer it. I had been waiting for this call for two days now.

I pressed send and didn’t say a word.

“In position, ready to proceed as planned.”

“Move.” I ordered and pressed the end call button. Now we wait.

Daniel’s POV

I had been feeling antsy for days. I felt like someone was looking over my shoulder with every turn. This feeling often came to wolves that had been born to lead in some capacity. Most wolves in this position called it leaders paranoia, but my father had taught us to nurture and trust that feeling. With that in mind I went to speak to my uncle and father. No surprise, they had felt the same thing. They both wanted to move far away to protect the people but I had another idea, a better plan.

Rody’s POV

We stopped fifty miles outside of the pack grounds and stretched before we shifted. A fifty mile run as wolves was nothing to us. Still I felt uneasy, more than likely just paranoia. Wolves streamed past me as we all began the run, some of the wolves turning to look at me, their thoughts plain in their eyes. Maybe not paranoia then.

Almost all of the guys who were apart of this team were starting to grow weary of it. Fresh out of prison or just coming off some majorly upsetting life event, most had gloried in the idea of killing, to lay their pain fresh on someone else. After about a year though, most started to question their decision. In our last few attacks, packs had been ready for us. Mostly because  I had been around “teaching” the other packs how to deal with a rogue assault. The problem is, when I teach something I don’t know how to pretend. So I really showed them how to fight a little better, pointed out some minor weaknesses in their protection and security. Nothing major that would seriously harm us, but enough to where they would know that I had attempted to make their packs more secure. Problem is, they took those ideas and ran with them, really beefing up security after my team left. The result was more than merely irritating.

For myself, I knew this wasn’t the life I was meant to lead; I had just been too cowardly to take my proper place. I had even let true love slip me by, because I was too much of a panty waste to do as I was supposed to do. Now look at me, leading a group of possibly rebellious murderers on another attack none of us wanted to be a part of.

The front line began to howl as we closed in on our target. The Moon Lake’s pack grounds were eerily silent. No flashes of panicked screams as we began to circle and surround their houses and various buildings. There was no one outside.  I sent caution through the pack link. We needed to be careful here. This was almost like the silence from Daniel’s pack when we attacked earlier. But more heavy and charged with tension.  The pack howled louder around me, throwing caution to the wind. They were reckless with their desire to kill these people and go home. To be done with this farce. They wanted women. They wanted to go home to a pack and be wolves. If they had to fight for their pack so be it, but this attacking constantly for no reason was wearing on them. Their thoughts flashed through the link. Their determination mounting to go home. Just to go home.

We came closer. The lights beckoned us onward. Clearly the people were inside. Maybe huddled in fear as they heard our howls as we approached. I hoped so for their sakes. We just needed to take out Daniel, possibly the alpha family so no one could claim Dominic’s old pack. We rushed towards the houses everyone howling excitedly as our blood began to boil with the fever of battle.

We launched ourselves in the air. Smashing through the windows of the main pack house. And we all skidded to a halt. There was no one there. We all paused and looked around. Where was everybody. I sent a thought through the link.

Check the upstairs.

A quarter of our forces dodged off upstairs to look around. I sent another quarter to check the basement. It was possible they had escape tunnels too. Maybe they had run, but then that would beg the question, how had they known we were coming?

No one upstairs, Roger projected through the link.

Well, this was certainly unexpected. We needed to regroup and rethink our game plan. I shifted back, standing in front of my fellow pack members completely nude. Nudity came with the territory for wolves that shifted. The half-breeds were more conscious of the fact and therefore uncomfortable, we were not. I stalked through the room to the phone. I dialed Dominic, as I didn’t have my phone on me. He answered on the first ring.

“Hello.”

“Alpha.”

“WHY ARE YOU CALLING MY FROM THIS PHONE. IT ISNT FUCKING SAFE!”

I sighed as I pulled the phone away from my ear. Werewolves have fairly sensitive hearing.

“Dominic stop yelling. No one is here. They knew we were coming and they left this place. We are going to check the out buildings but I’m sure no one is here.”

“They knew we were coming? How is that possible?”

His voice had gone quiet. Dominic was scary when he let his anger show, he was terrifying when he went quiet and cold with his anger. That meant it was focused and would only be unleashed on his target.

“Yes sir. They clearly had warning.”

“So we have a snitch then. We will need to investigate our pack thoroughly. Come back, send the rest back to England.”

Yes Dominic. I will be there shortly.”

I readied myself to shift so that I could replay Dominic’s orders through the link. I turned and paused. I was surrounded. Outside I heard howls coming from many wolves and tried to think tactics. As I shifted through different scenarios  a person stepped forward from the shadows. Daniel.

“I know you. It would serve you well to start talking.”

I shifted my shoulders to relieve the tension. This could be nasty.
