39 - Melissa

Luke's POV

"Luke!" Angel yelled at the top of her lungs, wrapping her arms around me. It felt good to see her happy, and not mourning over my death. It made me sad to witness my actual funeral, but it made me even sadder to see how she would possibly react if I was gone too soon. "I can't believe you made it!"

"What happened?" I asked. My mind was still in a total blur: I couldn't help but think about the rooms of darkness once again, and the girl who showed me the possible future if I wasn't around anymore. I couldn't even bring myself to remember what brought me into the situation of my near-death in the first place.

"The leader of the syndicate group that Mickey and Therese are in came to school, and threatened to kill us all. But to probably spare her the time, she just decided to cover her eyes and shoot whoever the gun would hit. It would be pretty okay for her anyway. And when you saw that it would hit me, you actually shielded me from being shot." she said, tears glimmering in the corners of her eyes. "Man, you saved me from dying, Luke. Thank you so much, God I don't know what I'd do without you."

I slung my arm around her. "Well, rest assured, I'll be sticking around for a hundred and twenty more years, just for you."

All of a sudden, my moment-ruining friends and their girlfriends burst through my hospital room door, all shouting my name like one would probably would when reading in capital letters. "Luke is alive! I repeat, Luke Hemmings is alive and well!" Ashton yelled. We thought he was addressing us, but our minds sort of changed when we saw the iPhone camera directly above him. He was probably making another InstaVid, oh dear.

Trailing along behind them was a doctor, who was ready to check my vitals. After a few minutes of assessing my condition, he gave me the diagnosis that the gunshot to my arm did not do any damage to my internal organs, and if I maintain my healthy condition right now, I'd be ready to return home later this afternoon. Everyone around me beamed with happiness, and I couldn't help but do the same. I was just happy to be alive.

Third Person's POV

It was 7-Diwa's first Filipino class ever since the shooting incident that frightened the whole school community, and they just felt the need to start it off with a ray of good news. Ms. Soliman turned on the TV monitor and played a news clip regarding the school's newfound fame for all the wrong reasons. "The members of Automonous Region of Minnie Mouse, also known as ARMM, have been arrested after the controversial shoot-out at an all-girls school in Quezon City. Their trial has been scheduled next week, and all victims of the said class had been advised by the authorities to be present."

After the whole news bit was finished, their teacher switched off the TV, and just when everyone was about to rejoice, they noticed the rather despondent look present on her face. She had her hair bowed down, some loose strands of hair getting in the way of her face. "What do you think is wrong with Miss?" The question spread across the classroom, yet no one had the courage to ask it. Thankfully, before the class could explode from anxiety, Ms. Soliman spoke about the thing bothering her.

"I would just like to announce that...one of the members of our class died late last night. Jillian was found in her room, hanging from a rope. I have the slightest feeling that this is the work of the ARMM." Before she could even continue, she already broke down in tears, just like everyone else in the room. The happy vibe the class had just mere moments ago was shot down by bad news, and no one could even dare to speak, fearing that everyone would go hysterical if one did.

Without thinking, Clarisse spoke from the very back of the room, breaking the eerie silence surrounding the room. "That's not the reason why she died."
