Demi's POV

"No, she won't marry you."

I span around.

There was the man I hadn't seen since I was 6.

"Dad??"

Nick got up. He knew that now was not the time.

"Demi, it is me." I gasped.

I looked over at my Mum who had her hands over her mouth, so did Maddie.

I knew she had a lot of swear words and screams built up but wasn't because her grandchildren were around.

Selena took the kids to the car.

"HOW COULD YOU JUST COME BACK AFTER EVERYTHING YOU DID SO CALMLY!" My Mum screamed.

There it was.

"YOU LEFT ME AND YOUR THREE CHILDREN, WITH NO EXPLANATION OR MONEY!" She screamed.

"I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO MEET YOU!" Maddie screamed.

"YOU LEFT THREE BROKEN GIRLS AND A BROKEN BOY!" Mum screamed.

Dad still hadn't said anything.

"DO YOU NOT HAVING ANYTHING TO SAY!" Mum screamed.

"No."

Mum slapped him,

"What about now?"

He shook his head.

"THATS IT!" Maddie screamed.

She used to do karate.

She beat him up and we didn't stop her.

When she finished she left and got into a car.

I grabbed his head and made him look me in the eye.

"That's what happens when you mess with a Lovato." I said.

I punched him knocking him unconscious.

He hadn't just ruined my life he ruined my engagement.

Nick threw me a sad smile.

I got in the car.

Everyone was silent.

***

Everyone was asleep and me and Nick were watching TV.

"Sorry." I said close to tears.

"For what?" He hugged me tighter.

"For ruining our engagement."

"Demi, you didn't ruin it. It was your stupid father." Nick said hugging me.

We sat in silence.

"Will you marry me?" Nick asked.

I nodded, hugging him back.

We were getting married!

***

When I woke up, everyone was still asleep.

Maddie was asleep on the floor next to the sofa.

"Maddie?" I said.

She groaned and covered her ears.

I got up.

"Hangover?" I asked,

She nodded.

I helped her onto the sofa and got her drink and medicine.

"Why did he just appear after all of this time?" Maddie asked,

"No clue."
