"Wait, you're all vampires too?" Hayami asks and tilts her head, her expression showing clear confusion rather than terror.

"Yes- 'too'?" I narrow my eyes in suspicion as I wait for her to respond. Instead, she opens her mouth and smiles, showing off her fangs. To emphasize it, she runs her tongue across one of them with her smug expression still present. "Alright, I get it."

"What? You asked me." She shrugs and leans back on the couch, making me roll my eyes.

"Didn't ask for a showoff of your teeth, did I?"

"No, but it did the trick." She chuckles as I sigh and shake my head at her nonchalant behaviour.

I scoff as I remember our conversation yesterday and continue swinging my legs as they hang on the edge of the bed. They had finally settled in a little so, the next day, Hayami and I had talked a little while I was relaxing in the living room.

I look back up to stare outside the window and choose to simply take in the silence and peace while it lasts. With the calm atmosphere washing over me, I close my eyes and inhale deeply, only to be jolted back to reality when my door is kicked open. I swiftly turn around to see an extremely angry Subaru stomping towards me, his raging eyes fixated on me.

"Alright, who pissed you off now?" I sigh, unaffected by his otherwise scary expression. "Oh, and if you damage my door again, I will haunt you for the rest of your life." I point out seriously as he inhales through his clenched teeth.

"Those two are vampires as well?" Completely ignoring my warnings, he slams his hand on the bed and towers over me as I continue to sit at the edge of my bed.

"Yes, and that bothers you because?" I ask and roll my eyes.

"Because you didn't tell us! He is the one who sent them! That bastard has always sent human brides as sacrifices and now, suddenly, he wants to change things up and send two vampires simultaneously. You think he doesn't have anything in mind? The fact that he is coming tonight for dinner isn't letting him off the hook anytime soon either."

"Subaru, I get that you're mad but we can't do anything about it. What we can do is wait for him to arrive tonight and ask him whatever questions are burning in your mind." I shrug and go back to looking outside the window as he growls, still standing over me.

"You can't be serious! Are you really not worried about his intentions?" I respond to him with silence, not wanting to talk about our father as I already had my fill of him for another 10 centuries. After realizing he has no effect over me no matter how mad he gets, he turns on his heel sharply. As he starts walking across my room to exit, he yells in anger before swiping his hand across my dresser, knocking a few items off it in the process.

I close my eyes and lower my head down to stop myself from yelling at him as he walks out relatively silently. Once I'm sure he's gone, I get up from my bed and begin picking up everything he pushed off from the dresser and place the items in their respective places.

"He's still pissed off, huh?" I turn around to see Kou leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed against his chest as he stares out into the hallway where Subaru had supposedly exited.
