We enter the mansion in a rush and close the giant doors, worry running through me as I look around the empty hall. It wasn't surprising that no one was there, but the eerie atmosphere that seemed to resonate through the house made me feel uneasy.

"Why is it so quiet? I don't hear anything." I walk further in, my fingers fumbling with each other in nervousness as I look around and upstairs for anyone.

"You think they're asleep?" Ruki mutters and walks in front of me, scanning his surroundings properly before walking up the stairs.

"At this time? I don't think so." With a little hesitation in my step, I follow Ruki up the stairs.

"You know what's going on, don't you? You already knew something was going to happen tonight." Ruki turns around as I reach the top of the stairs, and I look away before taking a deep breath.

"Well, yes. But not really: I knew something would happen but I wasn't sure what, exactly." I shake my head, feeling my eyebrows furrow in frustration.

"Wait-" Ruki suddenly mutters and pushes his palm towards me, indicating me to stop as he stares at the ground with wide eyes. "Do you feel that?" He whispers and brings his hand towards his neck, wrapping his fingers around it in a gentle grip.

"Feel what?" I whisper back as I stare at him before feeling my throat suddenly become dry. Whether that happened from the fear of the unknown or the lack of blood in my diet, I wasn't sure. At my question, Ruki begins to breathe heavily and steps away from me. "Ruki-" I reach out to him but he smacks my hand away and walks back quickly, trying desperately to not come near me.

"Don't- don't. Stay away." He shakes his arm at me frantically as I am left standing still in shock. "Don't come near." He breathes out and starts stumbling away, taking the support of the wall next to him to keep going.

"What do you mean 'stay away'?! What's going on?" I yell at him, frustrated because of his behaviour.

"Dammit! It's the blood moon!" He hunches over at that and covers his mouth as a way to physically stop himself from losing control. "If you don't go right now, Shinju, I don't know how long I'll be able to control myself." My eyes widen as I begin to step back subconsciously.

"R-Ruki. Calm down- I can help but you need to remain calm."

"No! Don't help me! Just go away! Get out!" He grunts before finally standing up straight in a swift movement and walking over to me.

"Ruki!" I say as he wraps his hand around my neck, scratching it with his nails in the process, and slams me against a wall. I hiss before finally getting over the shock to smack his hand away and push him away. Instinctively, I run away from him before he can grab me again and towards my bedroom as quickly as I can. I huff and look behind me briefly to notice him out of my sight. Even with some sense of safety, I don't stop running and run into the hallway where my room is.

"Ugh!" I feel my throat tighten as I stumble from a shock and come to a wobbly stop. My breathing becomes heavy and I place my hand up against the wall to support me as I continue stumbling over to my room.

"Ruki-san, stop!" I hear a high-pitched yell from somewhere in the mansion but ignore it as I reach closer to the door to my room and rest against a wall right next to it after getting distracted from the scent of blood that wafted through the air. Not minding anymore struggling noises that reach my ears, I focus on my own difficulties and look around the hallway for any help.

"What the hell is happening to us?" I breathe heavily and put my back against a wall behind me, feeling an unfamiliar sensation clogging up my throat. The discomfort begins to increase as I feel the pain reach my head, making me clutch it tightly and bend forward in agony. I stop myself from yelling out loud and shut my eyes as tightly as possible before the rush of pain finally begins to calm down. In shock, I look up and listen to my heavy breathing before coming back to my senses.

What just happened? I-it was the moon, I understand that. But what does it mean for Yui? She seemed normal today, maybe a little too normal.

I contemplate as I push open the door to my room, only to stumble and collapse onto my knees, drained from any energy. I feel my eyelids beginning to droop from exhaustion as I hunch over the floor, laying there for a moment before I can feel like moving again. I take this moment to notice the silence around the house, feeling unusual at the feeling but not wanting to go out and investigate in this state. As I remain in my position, I feel the blood from my neck beginning to pour along just behind my ear as I keep my forehead against the floor.

"Why... why am I not healing?" I breathe out heavily as a drop of blood splashes against the carpet, staining it immediately. I look at it intently when another strip of blood draws its line against my cheek and stops at the bridge of my nose, dripping onto the floor from there. "I need to do something about this," I mutter before stumbling to get up and take the support of my bed to fully stand up. With my balance slightly gained, I press my free hand onto my neck and pull it back to see blood covering up most of my palm.

The bleeding hasn't stopped at all. That's odd.

I instantly walk into the bathroom and find a bandage that could cover up my wound. When I finally wrap the fabric around my neck, I wobble out of the bathroom and sit on the edge of my bed, feeling the whole world around me beginning to spin. A knock interrupts my descent into eternal darkness as I snap my head up to look at Kou standing against the doorframe.

"You okay, Shinju?" He mutters as his gaze drops to my neck and I turn my head away from him, shaking it in response as I feel the dizziness return.

"I'm just trying not to faint right now. So, if you came here for some help with your thirst, I'm afraid I can't help you right now. Maybe, later- when I feel better." I close my eyes, feeling guilty that I wasn't able to help anyone at the moment. I hear rushed footsteps and Kou crouches down in front of me, staring up at me with determination.

"You really think I would ask for that if you're in such a state?" He tilts his head, a small pout appearing on his lips.

"Yes." I let out a breathy chuckle as he grunts in disbelief. "What about Yui?" I ask in anticipation, hoping they would all just go to her instead. But when Kou shakes his head in disappointment, I stop myself from frowning.

"She's unconscious in her room right now. Apparently, someone drained too much blood from her. Too bad she didn't yell the name of the person or anything so the whole city could hear her." He scoffs and stares out of the window in wonder while I roll my eyes. "Hey, you think your pills would work on me?" He asks suddenly, still staring at the window. "I mean, you've been taking them for as long as you can remember, right?" His gaze switches to my bedside table as I follow and exhale in thought.

"I'm not so sure, Kou. You've never even touched a blood pill before, let alone try it out." I shake my head, not knowing what the best decision for him would be. "And I doubt it works for something like a blood moon. I've never had to experience the thirst you all are so I've never had to take them specifically for it."

"I get it. I thought that would be the only option for me after I saw your state. But, it's fine. I'll try my best to stay away from you."

"You know, you're a lot calmer than Ruki was. How?" I tilt my head as I stare at him before he stands up, feeling quite proud of himself.

"Well, he has trouble controlling himself at times because he always bottles his feelings up. I, on the other hand, am quite... expressive. Yuma, Azusa, and I tend to have better self-control than him on multiple occassions. Anyway, I should get going. You should get some rest." He pats my shoulders before giving me a bright smile and walking out of the door, closing it after him.

Better self-control, huh? Even at a time like this?
