I teleport outside Yui's room and walk away quickly so she doesn't see me if she comes out of her bedroom. Once I'm out of the hallway, I look out a window to see him, Toshio, of all people, running towards the main gate and climbing over it with ease. He finishes off his stunt with a swing of his legs to jump over the gate and landing on the ground perfectly. He does not waste a single second and runs off immediately. As he leaves my gaze, he enters my mind when all my short-lived memories begin flooding in, making me stumble back slightly.

How in the hell did none of us sense him around the mansion? No, there's no time to think about that. I have to go after him and ask him what's going on before it's too late.

I debate whether I should take a weapon with me in case I may end up needing it. Without a second thought, I run towards my room and open the door in a panic. Once inside, I look around quickly, trying to remember where I had stored all my weapons. After looking under my bed, the gears in my mind click and I snap my head in the closet's direction and get up to open the door. Once I shift a few clothes away, I pick up my metal sais, the first weapon that comes into my sight, from the corner of my wardrobe. I gaze at them for a second before sticking their sword ends into the space between my jeans and belt.

Only for my brothers' protection's sake, I said to myself when I first got these. I guess I really am using them for that reason.

"Alright, time for me to test them out-" I abruptly stop and question my sanity before continuing. "Only if needed." With that decided, I run towards my balcony and place my right hand on the railing to hoist myself up so I can jump over to the other side. Once I land on the ground with perfect balance, I stand up and run towards the giant metal gate, opening it up and closing it behind me after leaving the premises. I walk forward and see his silhouette not too far away from where I stand. Suspicious of the lack of movement, I creep up slowly in his direction, making sure I don't accidentally step on a twig and attract his attention. As if somehow sensing danger around him, he begins running and without hesitation, I follow his steps in a relatively quiet manner.

I look around me to make sure that I know where I am going and look out for any traps that may be laying in my way, only to finally realize that I had been going in a circle all this time. It had been a good ten minutes before I realize the situation and swivel around in my spot to notice a few obvious landmarks that I had already crossed minutes ago. When I stop in my tracks, I hear leaves rustle and turn around to see Toshio spinning on his leg to face me and throw a trench knife at me. A gasp escapes my lips as I duck under it, causing the knife to penetrate a tree trunk.

"Well, well, your reflex skills are impeccable." He claps his hands slowly as if mocking me, before stopping abruptly. "However, I must say I'm disappointed in your sneaking, Ms. Obvious."

"You don't have to put up that front, Toshio. I know you don't want to do this. And we don't have to." I step closer, confidence in me building up as his expression falls as if he were contemplating the possibility. He shakes his head rapidly and begins to walk towards me. "Toshio," I speak up, my tone firm, contrary to my body as I subconsciously step back slightly, only for him to grab me by my shoulders and shove my back against a tree.

"And what makes you think you know what I want to and not want to do?" His glare shifts from me to beside me and he aggressively pulls out his trench knife, making my eyes widen in surprise. His hand on my shoulder pushes me further against the tree as he swings his hand behind him to get ready to attack me. As the knife comes closer to me, I crouch down, feeling my back harshly slide against the tree due to the pressure from Toshio's hand on my shoulder. I force myself to ignore the pain running through my spine as his knife gets stuck in the tree once more and I, having easy access to his ankle, swing my leg and watch him fall from the sweep. Before he has a chance to tighten his grip on the knife, I kick it out of his grasp. This action allows him to grab my ankle and drag me down to the ground. He grunts and vaults over me to grab his knife.
