Chapter 40

~3rd person P.O.V.~

"Gavin. Michael! Breakfast!" Jack yells from the kitchen, as he sets down two bowls of cereal on the table.

"Jack! Geoff! We don't want to go to school!" Michael yells as him and Gavin run into the room.

"Well too bad. You're going." Geoff says as he bites into his slightly burned toast.

"But why??" Michael whines.

We don't want to go either, but we are. So you have to too." Geoff replies, sitting down at the table next to Ryan.

"Yeah," Jack adds, "So sit down, before your cereal gets soggy."

The boys mumble as they climb into their chairs. Geoff simply leans back, sipping his coffee. Ryan laughs a little at his brothers' reactions. The two younger boys grumble as they eat their cereal.

"Its not that bad guys." Ryan says in an attempt to reassure his brothers. "Gavin, you get to hang out with Dan. And Michael, you get to see Lindsey." The boys faces light up as their brother points out the highlights of their day. Geoff nudges his brother's arm, leaning over to whisper in a simple thank you in his brother's ear. Geoff simply leans back, watching his brothers discuss their sudden excitement of the day. He sips his coffee, closing his eyes. "Things are getting back to normal, a little bit." He quickly opens his eyes and glances around the room. "Well its a new kind of normal..." He goes to sip his coffee once more, but pauses as the door bell rings.

Geoff quietly groans as he follows Jack into the to the front door, still carrying his drink. No one wants to see Geoff without his coffee in the morning. Jack pulls open the front door, not prepared for what he sees. Geoff walks up to stand near Jack, staring at the floor as he moves.

"Dude, who is it?" He mumbles. Geoff slowly looks up after receiving no answer. He stares at the figure, trying to figure out if its a dream or not. The only thing to pull him back to reality is the sound of his mug shattering against the floor.

"Dad?"
