Chapter 37 – Missing

Jonah ignored the sunlight coming in through the window. It was Sunday morning and he knew exactly what he’d do today. Stay in his dorm and think about the idiot he was for letting the perfect girl pass through his fingers. He hadn’t slept too well the night before. He had been too busy thinking about how bad he screwed up.

He lay with his face smothered into his arm smashed into his pillow. Nothing could get him outside except class and since today was the weekend. Well, let’s just say his dorm was where he’d stay.

This past weekend he watched Nathan go in and out to meet with Jasmine, still he felt no reason to get up and get out. It made him feel even sicker. A pain of guilt and disgust in himself was constantly quenching his stomach because of the simple mention of anyone in relation to Giselle.

Never had he fallen this hard but there was nothing he could do. It was too late. Things weren’t back to normal with Giselle either. They were on a hello basis. An awkward hello anyway. One that you gave to someone just to be polite and keep it moving. It made him feel even worse. He wanted things back to normal, even if that meant he had to listen to her go on and on about Isaac.

Jonah wasn’t sure what time it was but he knew he was alone in his dorm. He sat up and glanced around to see no sign of Nathan. It was a relief. For once Nathan wouldn’t convince him to go outside and hang out. Then again, maybe he thought to soon.

The door banged open as Nathan walked in panting and smiling. “Dude, it’s snowing!”

Jonah shrugged. “It’s been snowing since last night.”

“But it was light, now it’s like all over campus. Everything is white. It’s so unbearable that classes might be cancelled tomorrow, you can barely walk.”

“So? You’re acting like you’ve never seen snow before.”

Nathan glared at him. “I’m so tired of you.”

            “Don’t start Nathan.”

“No.” Nathan said in disgust. “All you do is sit around and mope like a little bitch.”

Jonah locked eyes with him suddenly while standing up. “What did you just call me?”

            “A bitch.” Nathan spat out.

Anger flared through Jonah but then it was washed away with sadness. “You’re right.”

Nathan who was obviously pissed found himself confused. “I am?”

“Yeah.” Jonah sighed while sitting back on the bed and staring at his hands. “It’s not like your lying.”

“Listen, there will be other girls. For once, could you just let it go already.” Nathan replied. “I want my bro back.”
