Chapter 27

Mia's P.O.V,

I was holding my camera in one hand and my other was entwined in Luca's as we explored Tokyo. We ended up In Shibuya. There were many, many people there, and it absolutely amazed me on how many people could live on one tiny island. I raised my camera up but slowly lowered it again as the lens came across a huge crowd. I stared, puzzled at what could possibly be going on, and then I saw it. A sculpture of a dog stood tall and proud as many tourists snapped pictures and gasping in awe. Luca saw me staring and we headed over just as a tour guide was giving a speech.

"Hachiko was an Akita dog, belonging to Professor Ueno Saburo. Everyday, Hachiko would see his master off at the Shibuya train station and await his return. Hachiko did this everyday, patiently waiting for Professor Ueno, even in the most terrible weather.

On May 21st, 1925, Professor Ueno had suffered a stroke and died on the job at the Agricultural Department of the Tokyo University. For the next nine years, Hachiko would make his way to the train station waiting for his beloved master who would never again return before walking home alone. Nothing could discourage him from his route.

Hachiko died on March 8th, 1935, again, waiting for his master. In April, 1934 a statue of Hachi was put up here, Hachiko present at the unveiling. Here Hachiko stands and always will, a loyal dog."

The speech ended and I realized I was bawling alone with many other women in the crowd. Luca was smiling at me, and he reached a hand up and wiped away my tears. As the crowd thinned out, I made my way to the statue snapping one picture of it and then laying a hand on the bronze.

"You were a good dog, Hachiko." I murmured, once again feeling tears in my eyes.

After paying my respects, Luca lead me to Yoyogi Park. We each grabbed a bite to eat before settling down in the soft grass. It was a gorgeous Sunday, the cherry blossoms seemed to be dancing in the wind. Luca played with my hair and I enjoyed the costume display. I snapped a few shots, Luca not noticing that most of the pictures were of him. I smiled and absentmindedly wove a flower chain from a few stray cherry blossoms. When it was finished, I sat it on top of Luca's head, him giving me a look.

"You look gorgeous." I smiled.

He shook his head, and I glanced around. People were in an array of costumes, people were performing too. Many were singing and dancing. I pulled Luca up and he followed me as I took snapshots of people. We listened to a couple performers, one was a girl band who were extremely good even though I couldn't understand a word they said. I watched an amazing dance group of all guys, doing impossible flips and turns. I also had Luca take a couple of pictures of me with some costumed people. One with a girl that looked like Alice from Alice and Wonderland and another with a guy who was super cute. Luca wasn't a very big fan of that guy. (He tried to delete the picture but I smacked him).

"Was it really necessary to smack me though?" Luca whined, fixing his flower crown.

"Yes, Yes it was. I liked that guy, he was really cute." I giggled.

Luca huffed and took the lead.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Back to the hotel, I am taking you somewhere."

"Where?"

"Surprise." He grinned.

We made it back to the hotel and we freshened up...oh god I sound old. Luca grabbed his phone and wallet and shoved them into his jeans pocket. I changed my shoes to my converse and pulled my hair back into a ponytail and fixed my makeup. Luca watched as I re-applied my makeup.
