Chapter 28

Mia's P.O.V.

Another long plane ride. Finally we were out of the air and on the ground. My feet hit the pavement and I took in  breath of fresh air and smiled. I glanced around as we walked through the airport. Many people were crowded in there, whether it was getting off or boarding the plane or if it was to see relatives and friends.  I saw kids hugging grandparents, aunts, and uncles. I saw older couples smiling as they saw their sons and daughters, but the thing that stood out most to me was a couple about my age. I remember the boy from the plane. He dropped his bags and held his arms wide. The girl ran to him, each embracing the other. He picked her up and spun her, their foreheads touching. I picked up my camera and snapped some shots, hoping that they wouldn't mind. The couple shared a kiss and I put my camera away, a feeling of longing overpowering me.

"Where are we going?" I asked him.
"Surprise." He replied.
"Is everything a surprise?" I pouted and crossed my arms, trying to get him to tell me.
"Yes." He smirked at me.

I wanted to hit him upside his moronic head, but I didn't.

We made it to our hotel, a beautiful suite with a balcony and golden silk bedding. It seemed as royal as the city. I sat my suitcase on the end of the bed, Luca doing the same. Standing side by side, we opened them up and I stared at the clothes.
"Well Mr. Surprise what the hell am I supposed to wear?" I asked sarcastically.
He glanced at me with an ha-ha-very-funny-smart-ass look. I grinned.
"Something nice." He replied.
I huffed and brushed the stray hair out of my face. I searched one handedly through my suitcase and then pulled up triumphantly, an outfit clutched in my hand. I looked over and giggled as I realized Luca had been watching me. He shook his head and cracked a smile. I changed into a blue baggy tank top and a black high-low skirt. I pushed my unruly hair up into a messy bun and threw on my chucks and sunglasses. Luca changed too, and I tried not to stare at his abdomen through his tight t-shirt. I sneaked a peek and hoped he didn't notice, and I smiled to myself.
"Ready to go?" Luca grinned playfully.
"Yes!" I exclaimed, ready to see the sights.
Luca laughed and led me out the door and into the sunshine.

We started at a tour through the Versailles Palace. When we were shown into the Hall of Mirrors, I gasped in awe. The ceilings were made of liquid gold and painted with stunning images. I glanced at Luca and he was smiling at me. His face was covered in sparkles from the sunshine hitting the crystal chandeliers. I touched his hair, sparkles hitting my hand.
"This is amazing. It's so beautiful." I murmured, running my hand down his shirt, catching sparkles on my fingertips. Luca took a stray strand of my hair and coiled it around his finger.
"All this beauty has nothing on yours Babydoll." Luca whispered, kissing my forehead. I shivered at his touch, but it felt right. I leaned into him and he wrapped his arms around me, us gazing around at the room.
"You look like Edward Cullen." I giggled staring at the sparkles on his skin.
He stared down at me, he pushed his hair up into a quiff and then pouting his lips.
"You're exactly my brand of heroin Bella!" He said, his voice low and husky. He picked me up and spun me, and I squealed "Don't eat me!"
As he set me back down, a woman came up to us holding a camera.
"You two are absolutely adorable...I'm from a traveling magazine and I was wondering if I could get a picture of you for it." She smiled.
"Of course." I smiled and Luca wrapped his arm around my waist and I placed my hands on his chest. We smiled and faced the camera and smiled. The woman snapped a couple shots and then thanked us.
"Have fun on your honeymoon!" She called over her shoulder. My mouth dropped and Luca snorted. I
"Ma'am we aren't..." I started to say but I just shook my head.

When we left the palace, Luca and I made our way down the busy streets when I stopped. I backed up a couple steps and peered in a shop's windows. I looked at Luca and he nodded. I pushed the door open and stepped inside.
The shop was full of odds and ends. Luca picked up a string of doorknobs and I picked up a jar of buttons. We snorted and set them down. Luca came across some masks of different faces. He picked one up and it looked like a half dead hippo. I laughed, picking up another mask.
Luca cracked up. "You look like a flamingo that got ran over."
We laughed and kept trying on masks, not noticing the little old shop woman come out from behind  beaded curtain.
"Are you two looking for something?" She interrupted.
I jumped at her voice, startled by her appearance.
"Just looking, thank you." Luca replied, setting down a mask. The woman continued to stare...at me. I stared back and she beckoned with her finger.
"I have something just for you little one." She said to me. I felt compelled to follow so I did, despite Luca's pulling me towards the door. The little old lady pulled out a case and set it before me.
"I think this is perfect for you." The woman explained.
A silence fell over the three of us, and I ran my hands along the box, curious of what it held inside. I cautiously opened the top and inside sat a charm bracelet. I picked it up, and examined the small charms. A jeweled camera, a unicorn, a key, a daisy, a crown, and a small Eiffel tower. I admired the bracelet, instantly in love with it.
"Some people say Marie Antoinette wore it. It has always brought me good luck." The old woman said, watching me with careful eyes.
"I...I love it." I whispered, taking the small daisy in my hand, my favorite flower.
"It's only fifty five dollars." The woman offered.
Couldn't my wallet get a break? I thought and placed the bracelet back inside the case.
"I'm afraid that I can't afford that right now. Thank you for the opportunity to see it though." I choked.
"Ok, if you're sure. Goodbye now." She said, putting the case back under her cash register.
